Wow, I had planned to go there in June en route north since we have friends near Winchester. Read RV park reviews a few weeks ago and looked at the high prices and changed my mind.
Instead will be at Creekside Campground a little further south on 81 in Edinburgh, VA. Our Leisure Travel valley group uses it and we've enjoyed our two stays there so far, lower cost, nice folks.
I hope ownership reads this thread and realizes that their behaviour (or the behaviour of one of them) is resulting in lost income.
This campground was one of my considerations for a stopover between here and wherever we head down south, and the reviews like this one led me to make another choice. I can tell you I was very happy with the other choice I made and will be staying there from this point on every spring.
If the seasonal campers say that this person is always like this and they just ignore him, it'll get to a point where even they get fed up of this stuff and stop going. At that point, relationships are broken for good and they won't get those clients back either.
We stayed @ Candy Hill a few years ago for over 2 wks even after some negative reviews.
Didn't find any problems, with those inside the office or the site. Except the 5er next to us had used toilet tissue under their sewer hook-ups. Which never was cleaned up all the time we were there.

Bad Plan. If the park doesn't respond, many will assume they just don't care. If they do respond, there is better than 90% chance that either their rebuttal will just incite further comments against them or it will be edited and moderated to the point it is no longer meaningful, for good reasons. If I had a customer I had problems with and had to ask them to leave and they posted a disparaging thread, my post would surely be edited or deleted if I posted what they actually did to get kicked out since these threads are not to attack individual posters. Just saying there is really no way for them to respond. If they post back that it is not true, who would believe them? Kind of like the classic question "When did you stop beating your dog?" No good answers. By posting you have made them aware of the thread, you have put them between a rock and a hard place. Not very fair.
No one says they have to reply, just note that the behaviour is being discussed by/in the community.
Considering the number of reviews on rvparkreviews related to rude behaviour, this certainly doesn't sounds like one single instance. If you look at the reviews on rvparkreviews, you'll find the word "rude" used 15 times, including in 4 reviews where they scored 5 or higher. I really don't think that this is the kind of representation they want. Personally, I couldn't care less if they respond, just change behaviour. It sounds like it could be a really nice place to stay, with exception to this one person with no apparent people skills.
sounds like a rotten trip. sorry for the cruddy cg but they sure do happen sometimes. remember never to go again and go out and find that next great cg where people are nice and you have tons of fun!
1st post no details trying destroy someones lively hood is not right!
i don't think 1st time post should be allowed to be so subjective.
we have all had experiences that don't please us but to try to destroy someone who has no recourse on 1st post is very suspect to me. just my 2cents

I don't think anyone that posted here, is out to "destroy" Candy Land C/G...there have been posts on here for the last few years ,with campers talking about how "rude" the people running it are...it is just to inform other campers about the treatment....I started going there back as far as the early 80's when Mr Poe built it and then ran it for quite a few years...but we stopped maybe 3 yrs ago based on how "nasty" they were...I personally don't care if they read this, respond to this or any other action they decide to do....I,personally will never go back to Candyland C/G.....Chcuk

So, you're saying that it's okay on the second post, just not on the first??? If he had a problem with a jerk at the campground (and remember, he wasn't the ONLY one.....there's a pattern here), why should he be required to wait until AFTER he's posted something else before he can warn others about this place?
There is an unacceptably wide range of standards associated with Good Sam Campgrounds - from very high end to the kind you wish you had never driven in past the gate. The Good Sam organization does themselves no favours if they fail to deal effectively with persistent issues like this within their campgrounds.
It is important to make sure your complaint is known to the owner of the campground, to the Good Sam organization and to the rest of us through RV Park Reviews.
