I have a 2003 Trailite B+. I have consulted my manual, my mechanic, my friend ( who knows everything - or thinks he does) and even an Ouija board, but I can't find it.

Does anyone have any idea where they have hidden my coach battery? I know that there is one in the engine compartment, but there is supposed to be one somewhere else ( the lights stay on when the engine battery is disconnected) but I can't locate it anywhere!!

Give me a tall ship, and a star to steer her by.

Since the Trail lite is a Class C, not a Class B, you might have more luck finding someone who owns one in the Class C section of the board.

There must be an external access door you haven't opened.

You should have a junction box with solenoids on the chassis, try to trace the battery cables from that. Could it be under the house steps?

Are you pluged into shore power, if you only have one battery(which I doubt) the lights will work if pluged up.start tracing wires the big ones. usually black and white. good luck. will

Most likely mounted on the frame rails in a box.

Flooded cell lead acid batteries MUST be vented to prevent risk of explosions and acid damage.

It cannot be in an enclosed space without industry standard venting.

Large amounts of explosive hydrogen gas is generated when you charge the battery.

Never put a flooded cell lead acid battery "inside" and charge it without venting.

I found this so far, Sounds like they might be in a bad place.....

We bought a new 2005 Trail Lite B+ model 251. We like the bed in the back.
Quality seems to be a lot better than in previous Trail Lites that we looked at.
I have installed all metal valve stems that come out through the wheel simulators. Makes air checking simple.
The Aux battery installation is about the worst that I have seen in a motor home. You need a flashlight and a mirror to check the water. And you have to remove one of the cables to get the covers off. Trail Lite should really look at this.
Have not made a trip yet. Looking forward to a cruise and we think we will like the rig very much.

They should be somewhere "outside" which usually means below floor level. Access is sometimes through an exterior door, less often under an access panel in the floor. A lot of manufacturers like to put them under an entrance step. You can often see the battery rack or battery box from underneath the house, but access should be from above or from the side.

Location can differ model to model within the same brand. House batteries are usually installed close to the converter/charger/power distribution box, to keep the runs short on the heaviest (thus most expensive) cables.

Here's a website for locating R-Vision/Trail Lite Dealers. Contact a Class C dealer and ask your questions. Odd that owners have no direct access to Trail Lite for support, etc.
