Vet Man wrote: Waterford is in a Quite small town. You will be able to see the highway. It is next door to a Lowes. PM me if you need directions I live in the area.
Thanks again Vet Man. Directions look to be;
Rt 95 N - Exit 81
Left at end of ramp
Left at Cross road (cross rt 95)
Right on Waterford parkway north to Walmart
Sound right?
Btw, are there any restaurants/fast food in that shopping center?

If you decide not to use Walmart, Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods Casino both have RV parking lots and allow overnight stays. At Foxwoods just let Security know that you are overnighting. No hookups but there is food and facilities to use inside the casinos.

No fast food at the Waterford Wamart. However there is McD in Walmart. You have the deli in Walmart. The Waterford stop would be better than the Groton or Saybrook

Directions are perfect, like WANDER said no food except in WalMart. Alot of food near-by if you have a toad and want to unhook. Let me know.

offthewall wrote: We are planning a trip north in a couple of weeks and need a quick overnight stop near Groton, CT. Looking for a Walmart that allows overnighting with easy on and off RT 95 heading north.
I checked my Allstays iPhone app and found these:
155 Waterford Parkway no
Waterford, CT 6385
150 Gold Star Hwy
Groton CT 6340
655 Boston Post Rd
Old Saybrook, CT
6475
I intend to call these three but would appreciate any personal experience with any listed or others in the area? Looking for an safe/RV friendly spot to stay for a few hours.
Thanks.
FYI for others. The Waterford CT Walmart does not allow overnight RV parking.
Even though the All Stays Walmart app lists this location as "Overnight Parking Possible", there are "Private Property - No Overnight Parking" signs posted throughout the parking lot.
A call to the store manager was even less encouraging. When asked if overnight RV parking was permitted, she replied, "Not really, sometimes people do it but It's not permitted".
We made our way up rt 95 five more miles north to the Groton CT Walmart, also listed in the All Stays App. A call to the store manager confirmed that overnight parking was permitted and he directed us to the area of the parking lot they wished the RV's to park.
Worked out great.

Oh not a problem at all. I was just trying to save others the time if they were considering it.
As the manager also stated, people seem to stay there but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable in a situation like that.
Groton was perfect. There was a Five Guys across the street that we had dinner in and then we were on the road by 7 AM. Just what a Walmart stop is for.
Oh, BTW, we purchased a 12 pack of soda and some popcorn at the Walmart - conscience clear.

I just feel bad if I give someone the wrong information. Well I am glad that you bought a 12pack of soda. Make it all good, Right.

My experience is go in and ask the manager and buy something and they may do an exception.
Not sure who the publisher is, and where they get their information on no-park walmarts. I did an overnight at the Bleachery Street in Ashville NC. It's on the list. In the morning we saw 5 other RVs in the lot. Felt right at home.
