Some cg's don't allow truck campers...and they don't allow you to take the camper off the truck. Just wanted you to know that. (and I did not have time to read the other posts.)
Make sure you do your math before you load up and go (make sure you are not overloaded.)
Make sure you know what tires you are rolling on. (E's or G's)
electric jacks are nice...

Loading and unloading is more of a pain than hitching and unhitching...
If you do a lot of sight-seeing while you're at the campground, you either need to:
1. Pack everything up and break camp every time you want to drive somewhere.
2. Unload the TC at the campsite.
Of course, if you stay put for the duration when you set up camp, it's not much of an issue. Since you unhitch the TT, I suspect you don't stay put...

Have a look at this site Truck Camper Magazine.
There is a ton of info on this forum. Take your time and read through some posts. Look at the pictures of all the rigs.
The pictures will familiarize you with the sizes and brand names. On TC Magazine's site he has most if not all the manufacturers listed on the right tof the page.
For almost any TC, you'll want a 1 ton truck, Ford 350, Chev 3500, Dodge 3500. Some only need a 3/4 ton or less, some need more, but generally a 1 ton will cover most.
If you have questions, ask them on here or email TC Magazine.
We love our TC however there are times I wish I had a bigger RV. Loading takes a bit more time than hitching a TT or FW. Unloading is quick and easy, but still takes more time than towables. Being able to have 4WD, do a u-turn, park in a regular space, go anywhere is wonderful. I highly recomend a TC to anyone, but do your research, ask questions and take your time on finding the right TC for you.

First - Look at campers, find one you like and can live with.
Second - Look for trucks that will carry your desired campers weight.
This website is a good place to find real world camper weights.

I don't mind hitching. I just don't like towing.

Would someone mind telling me why TC's are not welcome in some campgrounds??? It's not a traveling meth lab. A camper is a camper is a camper. They may not be able to afford the "approved" rigs but they are just as nice. Good Grief

Yeah that was a new one on me also...
I suppose there are some "RV Resorts" that are exclusive to Class A's of a certain vintage, etc...
We have never run into this...but then again...we are usualy in he woods...
We own a TC and a TT...the TC sees much more use that the TT...

Some limit to class A motorhomes, won't let the $500,000+ class c's in. Others limit by age.
