Has anyone had any problems with their vacuum pump? I had some work done on the alternator & A/C system, & now the vacuum pump dosen't work. I don't know if they are related as the coach is a pusher,(freightliner/cat) & the vacuum pump is up front on the firewall. So I have no control over cabin venting. Any ideas?

Obviously you should return to the place that did the work related to loss of vacuum pump function. Could be rubber hose disconnected or knocked loose.

If it is an older coach, hoses deteriorate and sometimes just moving one during other work will cause it to crack/leak. I would guess that IF the vacuum pump is running, and creating vacuum, you should hear a leak hissing.

Find the pump-- probable locations are in the bay forward of the driver's front tire or in the very nose. No rocket science-- it runs on 12 VDC. The pressure switch may be internal or external, depending on which pump you have.
Could be a vacuum line that came off or is cracked (removing the vacuum line from the pump and sucking on it should hold a vacuum). Could be a blown fuse (no 12 VDC-- replace fuse). Could be a bad pressure switch or pump.
Once you fine it, troubleshooting is pretty easy.

thanks for the replys. I know where the pump is, as I said, it's on the firewall in front. It just dosen't run. I looked for a fuse in line & in the fuse block, but it must be on a circuit with other things & everything else seems to work??
The coach is a National Tradewinds if that helps.

Do you have 12 VDC to the pump?
Locate your fuse block for other items that only run with the engine/ignition on. That is its more likely location.

We had the pump go bad on our Holiday Rambler. Purchased a replacement from our local Ford Dealer.
