I think more and more there are just a lot of rude people, that feel they have more rights than you or me. I usually drive in the second lane from the right on a highway that has more than 2 lanes on each side. I also try to watch what is going on in the right lane and give room for a vehicle in the right lane to come over in front of me, if traffic is coming on the on ramp. Big trucks seem to get trapped quite often, be polite to them and they'll be polite to you. Jerks are just jerks and you won't change them, so don't let them change you. I seriously feel there are still more decent people than jerks.
California law states that anything pulling trailers can travel in the right 2 lanes. I tend to travel in the second lane, especially when the freeway is busy, just to avoid people doing stupid things when entering the road. Seems to work out okay, even though I'm going 10 mph slower.

Honestly, I will move over if possible, But, For me. It depends alot on the other driver. IF he hits the bottom of the ramp at interstate speed. I'll slow, and let him in. However, IF he hits the bottom of the ramp at say 45 to 50. I won't slow down, and he will just have to wait till I go by.
So many people don't know, to merge, you have to be going at the same speed as traffic, not 15 to 30 MPH slower
So glad for all the responses, we just had this argument on Friday. Their are many lanes of rushing people coming on the highway in certain spots and I drive this route often enough to know the spots so I move to the left (it's two lanes) and BF yells stay in the right and hold your ground...OMG when I see 5, 6, 7 cars coming into that lane, I said nope I'm staying on the left and the guys driving like maniacs are going to have to figure it out...

I'll usually slow down, just to get the exchange over with as soon as possible and I don't have to change lanes again..
IMO, if the merging cars would have the courtesy to use their turn signal, I'd be a little more tolerant of them and let them in every time!
I'd say less then half of the cars that merge actually use their turn signals to merge... What's interesting, is after they merge without using a turn signal, they will use it to change lanes...

It's almost impossible to use the turn signals when holding a cell phone to your ear, with either hand. Heavy phone users have taught themselves not to use signals at any time.
Traffic joining will also not notice that you are towing sometimes!
I used to move over to the next lane, but that can mean a whole new ball game trying to get back.
Now, if it is quiet I move over, if it is busy I allow oncoming traffic to "mesh" even if that means having to slow down somewhat and remain in the slow lane.

Absolutely drives me crazy. Even worse is being in the line of on-ramp cars behind him that now have to merge at 15 under.
