I have a cummins 5.9 - had a similar problem on the hills. Unfortunately, for me, it was my bosch 44 fuel pump - it was an expensive fix - about $1200 - but no issues since. Like the OP, I had the fuel filters changed - a couple of times, to no avail.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Turns out it was the exhaust brake that was broken and stayed in the closed position. When it was wired open ran good. Replacement has been ordered, waiting for install.

Sandra,

What exhaust brake did you have/did you order?

And when was it last lubed (if PacBrake)?

Not sure on either counts. It is a 10 year old Cummins engine. Have not picked up the unit or seen a bill.

Since you just had the filters changed, I would start there first. Make sure they were filled and tightened properly. If they check out ok, examine the lift pump....Dennis

On edit: What is your turbo boost showing....

Had a similar issue a few weeks ago and it turned out to be the turbo was not tightened when they worked on the exhaust leak -- tightened it up and ran like a champ.

Sandra, thanks for sharing what was wrong with your coach. While the exhaust brake is expensive, it's easy to replace. Consider upgrading to the PXRB, you'll be glad you did...not much extra but the benefit is great. I had a Dynasty with a 8.3 Cummins and it made a world of difference. I replaced mine myself in a campground in about 45 minutes so replacement is not a big deal. You're maybe looking at an hour or two diagnosis charge plus install labor...good luck and I'm glad it was something simple....the turbos are expensive....Dennis
