Ordered Torklift tie downs and turnbuckles for the truck. What else will I need before purchasing the camper and sliding it in?
A bed mat?
What about electrical connections? There's a plugin On the bumper for a trailer, but if I understand it, I need a separate connector in the bed(?) for a TC. If so, where can I get a wiring harnes and plug?
Anything else I need? I don't want the sealer to do any installations. I just want to drive to the dealer, load up and leave.
Definitely get a rubber bed mat. If you have a plastic bed liner in the truck, take it out. If you have the spray in bed liner, I would still go with the rubber mat. You can use the trucks rear bumper hitch plug for your TC, its just you wil need a long enough cord to go from the truck plug to the TC plug. TC plugs are usually located near the left front (drivers side) corner. One issue you may have is TCs use different plugs, depending on the manufacturer. Until you know what TC you are getting you might not be able to prepare upfront. But if you have the corrct long enough cord I would think your dealer would splice on the correct fitting plug the day you pick up the TC. It wont take them that long. Once you have the TC loaded, and using it, you should be able to add any truck suspension upgrades as you see fit. There are a ton of upgrades out there.
Dave, I wasn't thinking of suspension type upgrades - didn't occur to me - but the truck is a 2012 GMC 3500HD LB dually with a diesel engine and Allison tranny. We're looking a Maverick 2902, which has a dry weight just under 3000 lbs. CC on the truck is about 5300 lbs. Not planning on towing anything.
Kerry - Thanks. I'll wait until we get the unit, then. I'd be intersted in learning more about your solar setup...
I think that you will find that the 2902 as delivered will be over 3200# before you do anything to it. My 1000SLLB was supposed to be 2745 dry but was 3200# when I got it. With a dually I think you will be okay though.
