I am thinking about upgrading my Droid X smart phone from Verizon.

I want one with no keypad, and a large screen, like I have now.

I LOVE this phone, except for the poor battery life and the fact that I can't hear the person I'm talking to unless I use the speaker.

Since I rarely talk on it, that's not a big issue...but I use the computer functions a LOT..

Any suggestions? I don't want to pay the $199 for the Razr Maxx.

What are you willing to pay?

I wouldn't recommend the Droid Razr (at 200). I've had ongoing problems with it since January.. and it's my 2nd phone. Screen rotate bugs, and now lockups with the USB cable trying to access photos.

It'sort of funny. I'm not a "phone geek" at all, always prefering the simple phones from our carrier AT&T. Last night I found I was allowed to upgrade, and after my usual research I decided on a Samsung Infuse Android Phone.

It is not the newest in the lineup, or the most bells and whistles or the highest gig at 4 gigabites...but just a year or so ago it was top of the line.

Not only was it a good price (1 cent!), but is had an astonishingly high score from over 700 users..4 1/2 out of 5. And all the review and rating websites praised it as well, including the amazing AMOLED big brilliant color screen and "feel" of the phone as far as light weight but quality. I didn't want one of the Apple phones that feel to me like a brick!

And the 8 meg camera was supurb...the video even better. I've got a new grand daughter and quick access to a camera is a priority.

Also the ratings sites showed a really great battery life...also important to me...I don't use the phones I've had as much as most people seem to, but I hate having to charge it al the time!

I tryed one out at an ATT store..and will get the new one in a couple of days.

I am rarely excited about a cell phone, after all, to me a cell phone is only a tool! And I've had cell phones when I was with the Police Department ever since they came with a seperate battery box!

They really aren't "phones" anymore. They're computers with apps, one of which is voice communication.

I had a Blackberry curve until it started acting up. I was up for upgrade and my DD and DW bought me a Iphone 4 as a Christmas present. Wasn't sure if I would like it, but it's been 5 months now and I love it and wouldn't want another phone. I'm on Verizon, and the had it for $90 if you upgraded.

A major problem with the android phones is the slowness in obtaining updated operating systems. Many year-old phones have not yet had Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) made available. Many will never have it made available.

If I were getting an Android phone, it would have to already have the latest OS.

That said. I like the Samsung Galaxy S2. And, i believe, after a 3-month wait, it has been upgraded to ICS.
