Actually, my storage lot neighbor hit it. Got a call from the lot manager than the guy in the site next to me told her he hit me and left his info.

So, he has a toy hauler and had too much of an angle coming in. The top of his trailer hit my awning slide, ripping the material clean off the end. He then continued down and took off the door to the hot water heater, side light, bent the frame on three storgage doors, broke off all the trim around the wheel well and off course, nice long scratches down the side!!!

My biggest concern is that the slide out is pushed in. Not sure how much damage that could be.

To his credit, he did leave his info and I called him. You could tell he was bothered by it and apologized a number of times. While I was upset upon seeing the damage, I did not get angry at him when we talked....after all it was an accident.

He is good friends with a guy that owns a auto body shop and works on RVs as well. I know the place and have seen many MHs there.

He gave me his friends number and I'm gonna call to set up a time to get an estimate. I want everything fixed looking as good as it was. I keep the MH in great shape.

Worse thing was, we are trying to sell the MH and I had an appointment on Sat to have a potential buyer come look at it. had to cancel that!!

A word to the wise, ALWAYS get AT LEAST two repair estimates. Especially if "friends" are one of them.

Maybe I've been watching too much court TV during the day recently but I would definitely let my insurance company know about it. I would also want a police report or a very specific letter signed by him describing the damage he did.

If there are disagreements down the road about what should or shouldn't be repaired, you'll be glad you did.

Yup, called my insurance today. Here are a couple of photos. I also took photos of his trailer showing where it hit mine.

JMO, the guy has no business owning an RV if he didn't know he was doing all of that. That said, make a claim with the Insurance company and avoid at all costs his "buddy in the business" and seek out a competent repair facility.

I think I'd contact my insurance as well, but if IIRC, the MH will then have an accident "on the books." If this is true, would that hurt your ability to sell the MH? I could be wrong. Anyone have some expertise that can elaborate on how insurance claims affect sales?

I would ask a lot of questions while his buddy estimates it. Mainly how he is going to make it look new. I would take notes on the specific areas. Then go to a RV repair facility and ask the same questions. If the ideas to fix it are the same, I would give the buddy a chance. I would make sure the buddy knew I was expecting it be in new condition when it left or it would be turned in to insurance. Since the guy left his info and did the right thing, I would give him a chance to make it right without insurance being involved.

There's one important question I would ask myself here.......

If this "buddy repair guy" does a lousy job repairing the rig, what are your alternatives? At that point, it may be too late to involve your insurance company. Seems to me that you are absorbing all the risk here.
