We want to go to PEI this summer and thought we would like to go through New England. I don't see anything anywhere close to a direct way from NY state to NB.
We were to the Gaspe last year and were looking for some new scenery.

Since you're in Waterloo why not go through the Niagara Falls area... follow I90 through Rochester, make a side trip up Whiteface Mountain, take the ferry across Lake Champlain (Keesville NY to Burlington VT) and follow your GPS to PEI. We did that nine years ago... it was a nice change from following the 401 and the gas is less expensive too! Make sure you check the ferry schedule and book your crossing.. you likely will need the larger ferry. We did for our fifth wheel.

If you go through Buffalo, stay off the SkyWay. If wind is blowing it murder.

PEI is busy busy busy when "schools out!"
If the weather is great, locals in the Maritimes will book up all sites for every weekend in July and August...be warned!

Using the bridge from NB to PEI.....

As one enters PEI there is an "American Style" rest area just off the bridge, very good for information, etc.

Leaving PEI is when you will pay to use the bridge...(free to come in, pay to get out! LOL)

What kind of bridge goes to PEI? Tall? Metal grate deck? Guard rails the height of "jersey walls"?

Is there a ferry over to PEI? How much does it cost for a pickup TV & and 22" TT?

If I can afford the ferry, I will go to PEI. If the cost of the ferry is more than I want to pay, I'll not go to PEI.

I will not drive across that bridge. Bridges like that give me the "willies". Boats (ferries) and water do not.

Take the ferry off the island. It is the same price as the bridge, but much more fun,
