I am looking at buying a different GPS for our Class A motor home.
I am looking at the NUVI 465LMT. What do you think? Is anyone using this one. The Garmin we have now is ok for a car but you can't set it up for the Motor home and it has tried to take us on some roads that you should not be on with a 34 foot motor home.

Used it for 2 years and has kept me out of trouble they also make a newer model for trucks more features, bigger screen. Contray to what most think it does have all the campgrounds in its data base, just under lodging and recrecation (state parks etc.) I like that I can also use it in the tow car also, it quickly switches from truck to car mode.

We also use the 465LMT. Good unit, no major issues. With any GPS though, you need to make sure you know where you are supposed to be going to stay on the safe side. I have yet to see any GPS that was infallible.

Many folks like the new Rand McNally RV units. You may want to check their units also.

Thank you for the quick response. I have always liked the Garmin units. Have not heard much about the Rand McNally units.

We just go the Rand McNally 7710 a couple months ago. It works better then the NUVI 255 we have for the car. Wer have not used it for a full trip. It has a much better display.

It sounds to me that you have your GPS set to shortest route. You want fastest route as this will take you on freeways and not on narrow roads. Having it set on shortest route and he operators following it with no common sense killed a couple in North US last winter when their GPS took them on a goat trail in a snow storm.
My brother in law also ended up on a logging trail in a rain storm. You have to use common sense and a map handy if you are in unknown territory.

Go with the Rand-Mcnalley unit. Ask any OTR truck driver which they like best. In a Class A, you need the bigger screen, as you are sitting further away. Get the one that is set up for RVs.

I don't have a Class A motor-home, but if I did I think I'd use a Rand McNally RV GPS. If they're good enough for truckers they're probably good enough for a house on wheels eh?

Got ours last week. Anxious to use it in the RV. Much to big for the car though. That's where my iPhone with TomTom comes in. If you get the 7710, buy the sun shield too. Someone suggested putting a baseball cap on it to shield it. Might work. Good luck.
