wolfe posted the correct readings you should see with a voltmeter.. for future reference. VM's (excuse me Nas) are a great tool to have .. even for a nurse! And if you call the office and tell the maintenance guy what you see, he'll be so impressed he may not blame you for the problem.

In an effort to save money, I've seen campgrounds run a single (sometimes oversized) current carrying conductor to the 50A outlet and then jumper it to both hot legs of the outlet. Not legal or up to code but a lot of rural CGs don't pay a lot of attention to code. RVs with no energy management system will never detect a problem but rigs with EMS look for 240V between legs to determine if the source it 50A or 30A.

May not be a stupid suggestion but I assume you are plugged into the camground pedestal with the 4 prongs (i.e. 50A)...

Are the circuit breaker(s) on the camground pedestal all turned on?

I will make the same assumption, I do not know if it's been explained already (My internet connection is a bit flakey just now and I don't care to hike up the hill to a better one,, I'm kind of setting a distance record for my hardware today).

The EMS in your RV decides on 30 or 50 volts by measuring the voltage across the two "Legs" of the 50 amp service, If you plug into a 30 amp outlet using an adapter that voltage is ZERO (Same if you adapt to a 14/20 amp outlet by the way)

But if you plug into a PROPERLY WIRED 50 amp outlet it should be 240.

I highlighted the key term.

Using your volt meter measure voltage at the outlet, (The 50 amp one)

There should be 4 "Prongs" on the plug corrosponding to 4 holes in the outlet.

With the round, D or U shaped one on the bottom measure from the top FLAT to either side 120 volts meanss you have successuflly made contact with the contacts.

Measure side to side.. 240 means YOU have a problem ZERO means the park does.

We stayed in a campground in March where there was a brand new 30/50 amp pedistal. I plugged into the 50 amp plug with my surge protector and went about my business. Soon after that the manager came over and told me the pedistal's 50 amp plug was not wired for 50 amp. When I looked at the surge protector, sure enough it only said I had 110 on one leg. I made an assumptiion, oops. I had to plug into the 30 amp plug. On another day, (same place) the surge protector shut off because the voltage dropped too low. Wow did they have some electrical problems. Someone said the place used to be an old KOA and they were now trying to make some improvements. He was was not happy about the mis-wire.

Adapter????????

I have tried pushing the button to change to 50amp. It read 50 amp before. But now I am definitely only getting 30amp. It tripped my circuit breaker yesterday when I turned on my air, It was the air circuit breaker that tripped yet I still had AC. I am plugged in with the correct 50amp plug. I have had to use my adapter before so I do know I am plugged in correctly.

I am thinking it is an issue with the campsite electric. I am going to check it out with the owners today. Maybe ask some of my fellow campers what they are getting. Just never had this problem before.

If your MH is wired for Washer and dryer and you do not have one. Check to see if the breaker for the washer and dryer is in the on position, if it is in the off position the panal will show 30 amp. The reason I know mine did the same thing, I had cut mine off because I didn't have a washer and dryer, it did the same as yours I cut the breakers back on and every thing worked correct on 50 amp. Those breakers need to be on regardless if you have a washer and dryer or not. I have a 2002 Endeavor. Roy

Try turnning off all the breakers in the coach and then turning them back on. All of them.

X2 on the park wiring being wrong. They've wired both hot legs of the plug to the same 120 volt source. Likely their problem, not yours. Measure across the two side slits and you should read ~240 volts, each side to ground (round) should be 120V. If wrong they need to fix, not you.

OK update. I switched off the breaker and unplugged, then plugged back in, switched on the breaker. Watched my surge protector, Line 1 is ok...Line 2 is not. Yes I have had 50amp at this site until yesterday.
Since your EMS doesn't detect 240V it defaults to 30A.

This is a good sign as the problem is likely the CG. However it can be your power cord ATS, PI or anything else that gets both hot leads into the EMS.
