I just bought a Magellan RV9165T-LM GPS and so far really like it except for one thing. The gal that they put inside that thing runs her words together, putting the pauses in the wrong place. Sometimes it is very difficult to understand the directions. Have any of you experienced this? I wondered if this is a problem on the RM7710? Thanks for your comments!

Some Magellan's were like that but try a different voice. It does have more than one - or at least it should.

We have a Garmin, but I expect they're all mostly the same.
Check the manufacturer's website for software updates, try a different voice... sometimes there are different voices/accents available for free download.
We love our GPS... when we arrive in a new town, she know's where everything is already!
Happy Camping!

Other than changing voices, dunno what to tell you. My Garmin's lady does some weird pronunciations, and thinks 'st' (street) is 'saint', but I can't say she does what you describe.

Never believe anyone or anything that knows everything. ESPECIALLY a GPS unit.

I'm a weather-radio user, and I thought for YEARS that there was some guy sitting somewhere reading the reports over...and over...and over...and always in an accent that I decided was sort of "French", but without much inflection.
I thought he was probably just excruciatingly bored!
Then when I started hearing "him" all over the West Coast, I realized that "Igor" (as I'd named him) must have been an early computer-generated voice.
A whole industry's grown up around trying to make those voices sound more "human", but it's not there yet. The weather service has replaced my Igor with a male/female duo. They're both annoyingly perky, which is bad enough in the "girl" but downright creepy in the "boy".
I miss my good old bored-to-tears Igor!

Try a different computer voice. Only computer voices will speak street names for directions. The majority of voices included with GPS units are not computer voices. We found the UK English voice on our Garmin and Tom Tom was a lot better at pronouncing than the American English voice. Probably because she went to Oxford.
Also tell your GPS to repeat clearly - "The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain..."
