why?
I have removed lot of 454 punps with with return outlet and installed
ones without.More fuel pressure/flow
One problem with those 454 stock air cleaners is not enough air intake
By pass the cold air intake snorkle by turning the lid over on the air cleaner.helps a lot
Wouldn't the engine suck in lots of hot air with this arrangement. It seems counter to the cold-air intake.

what do u prefer? A badly bogging 454 quadrajet Motorhome or one that does pretty good once you flip the lid and it gets some hot air
but runs good?
I would think that engine sucks hot air either way....I remember my uncle had a Chevy cst 396 pickup,he had the air cleaner flipped, you could hear that 4 barrel suck some fuel!! I just might try that.....
Fuel recirculation reduces chance of vapor lock and is a safety measure as pressure within the fuel pump is reduced. Excessive pressure can cause a rupture in the pump membrane and pump fuel into the crank case. Best plan for intake air is to fabricate a couple of 3" or 4" flex hoses from the front of the coach to the filter can, cool air makes a big difference in performance. It's not easy to improve on the old P-30 unless you go with long primary tube headers like the Banks piece. Flipping the top does little but announce the opening of the secondary throttle plates.
