OH come on get real. THEY DO NOT INSTALL THE ALLISON 1000 IN TANK! I thought that fallacy was long put to bed. The Allison 1000 as I remember is only rated to handle something like 850lbFt and 26000 GCW.

ANd when the 1000 first came out, it was rated to a whopping 550 lb ft of torque! But it is an ally put in a tank! so must be good!.......yeah right

Really? Are you serious? Wow? And here I thought the would be a dead giveaway. Here is another to double up.

Maybe it was the Powerglide I was thinking of they put in tanks?
Yep, it was the Powerglide!!

By the way. Did you know Ford owns Cummins?

Ford doesn't own Cummins, Cummings or a real diesel.

Absolutely retarded IMO. The amount of money that needs to be put into an Undurablemax to make that kind of power is easily twice the price of what that 2001 truck was new. All for what... bragging rights and a feature in a magazine?

3020 lb/ft of torque at the rear wheels is no big deal. A stock 800 lb/ft engine running in direct gear in the transmission with 4.10 axle gearing puts 3200 lb/ft torque to the rear wheels when running at an engine rpm coinciding with the max torque output of the engine.

Now 1600 horsepower at the rear wheels, that truly is something to write home about!

IIRC, the newest crop of 800 tq rated diesels put something like 650 tq to the wheels as measured on a chassis dyno. - Apples to apples.

At those power levels I hardly think you could call a Duramax "undurable".

As far as it being "retarded"....... Different strokes for different folks. I'm quite sure there are things about you that somebody might find to be "retarded"....... Starting with your opinion.
