I have a 2009 Keystone Passport that I purchased new two summers ago. Last weekend I noticed that there was something yellow on the ceiling of the RV. The closer I looked there were little marks where the staples were in the ceiling and the paint was coming off them. They look rusted. The closer I looked there are yellow lines all the way down the whole length of the camper that go across width wise on the camper. It is every foot and a half or so where they stapled the ceiling to the beams. Other then the marks in a line along the beams there are no other marks on the ceiling anywhere.

All of the seals on the roof look fine. The dealership(which is closer to my house then where I bought it), has told me to contact my insurance company and the manufacturer and see what they could do for me.

If I missed a seal that is leaking then I am willing to accept that but I just cant see where the moisture is coming from.

The theories I have heard so far:
-leak in roof
-beams might not have been completely dry when they put the camper together
-glue is making the marks in the ceiling

Any advice would be appreciated.

i would suggest grabbing a strong beamed flash light on a sunny day and seeing what you can see around the bottom side of the ac housing on the roof - it may not get a lot of sun, but it can build up dirt and debris which may cause even the smallest of stuff to grow and separate seams

I have no leaks either but just noticed a few of those are rusted slightly on my TT as well. I believe it's just from condensation, especially when we're sleeping. The ceiling definitely gets sweaty during the night hours.
I plan on using just a dab of white caulk to hide them.

Thanks for the ideas, I will check around the AC. As soon as I figure out why it is doing it I am sure I will have to remove the rusted staples and put in some new ones and painting is going to be the only thing that will cover it up the yellow lines, they are about 2 inches wide and go all the way across the ceiling. I was going to look around for a place that would do a pressure test for me to help find a leak if there is one. I didn't leave a window open this winter and I am wondering if moisture built up in the camper and that is what did it.

It`s just moisture in the air. that will make the staples rust.

Dodge Guy: What would make the yellow lines the residue from the staples?

It could be the filler they use to cover the staples? maybe? It sounds like it`s the way they built it.

I've just gotten this same issue in my 2005 Keystone. It was moist in there this winter... I suspect its from the moisture. I cought it before it got too bad though. Actually, you can't even see it unless you use a flashlight pointed at the spots.

I have no plans to "repair" this issue.
