I have never been to a UTV rally but often get to Moab. Just curious for anyone who has been to the UTV rally. Do they make you trailer your UTV to the trails or can you drive from where you are camped to the trails?
My Rhino is street legal, so I often drive around Moab with it and as long as I stay off main street don't have any problems. I just don't see how you can get to a lot of the trails without going on pavement?

At the Rally, they have escorts (PD) to most of the trails to get you through town. Kane Creek and Fins and Things/Hells Revenge come to mind. There are other trails that are listed that you will need to trailer. Behind the Rocks and 7 Mile Rim would need a trailer, but there is a plethora of trails you can hit without a trailer. If you haven't ever been, it's worth it to ride with a bunch of different folks from different areas, the vendor row, the dinner, and the raffle are all great.
Closest is OK Corral, you're right there. KOA is not offroad friendly, Spanish Trail is acrossed the highway close if your thinking of the Rally. I personally like Archview 9 miles north of town. You can ride out of there, they have gas, and shade. Ken's Lake to the south of town is doable also.
Was just at SlickRock CG last week. I have NO desire to go back there. I dry camped (free) slightly west of the obvious parking area on west side of SH 191, slightly north of ArchView. Next to the railroad tracks on road to 7Mile Rim. Very quiet..and you can use ArchView gate, go south, under 191 and get to several trails...but I really like the idea of police escorts out of town. Sounds like a great Rally. Have Fun. Be careful.

What was wrong with slickrock? Too crowded? Too loud? I've tent camped there tons of times and quite frequently some drunken morons are carrying on well into the wee hours of the morning, but I take earplugs and they help. The access to the Sand Flats trails is, of course, awesome from there.
I'm afraid things didn't work out to where we are able to attend a rally this year. We also don't camp when we do take the atv as we like to hit many different trails, and a toy hauler doesn't work for that sort of thing. The wife prefers motels with long hot showers after a days ride anyway.
I'm mentioning that to let you know I'm jealous. Group rides in Moab are alway a blast, and we try to hit sand hollow at least once every year as it offers a host of different types of riding, and is a great place for us to head to when it's snowing up here in the northern part of the state. If this is your first time running the rzr at moab, you're in for what will probably be the best riding you've ever done. It's riding of a quality you just can't find in many other places, and the rallies are set up really nice.
Slickrock CG and Sand Flats are not the same. Slickrock CG is on the north end of town on the west side of main street, tends to be very busy most of the time.
I stayed there one year for jeep safari and wow. There was a group of people who went out about 10pm for a night ride, rolled one or two of their toys and brought them back to the campground and began using power tools, grinders, and welders all night long trying to get their toys ready for safari the next day. They finally stopped with their tools about 6am.
I suppose you can probably get that in any of the organized campgrounds during jeep safari week.
I have also stayed out in sand flats area (near slickrock bike trail, hells revenge, fins n things, etc). This area doesn't get the all night mechanic work but can as mentioned by d-mac1 get some party's that go late into the night. There is only one small organized campground out on sand flats, and I don't think you can get a very big toy hauler in there. sand flats does have a lot of well spaced primitive camping to be had however (most of which geared toward tents vs toy haulers).
