Just relax.
When the time is convenient invite neighbors for ice cream or just to visit.
Everyone, more or less, likes to socialize when they have relaxed.
If the campground has socials etc you will meet a lot, of them around the table. Never got up without making a couple, of friends, at least.
I leave the openings to wife mostly, these days. Goes with illness.
So If I don't jump in go ahead and do it.

I hear ya. I guess its not that I don't like people, or I'm not friendly. I'm just quiet. If I have something to say, something meaningful, I'll say it. Otherwise, I just keep my mouth shut. Small talk makes me uncomfortable.

It's not even that I have something to say or it's meaningful. Heck, I'm actually known to talk a lot - but, I do best with close friends and small groups. Otherwise, it's a lot of fidgeting. (shrugs shoulders)

I wanted a memento of our trip to Alaska - and found a website where you can imprint license plates with whatever you want. I chose an Alaska plate, had it imprinted with the miles we traveled, and mounted it on the front (in Michigan, you only need a rear license plate).
THAT sure gets people to stop and talk - thinking we drove down from Alaska....LOL!!

Another good one is to learn to play the guitar. I'll be outside practicing and I've had cars drive past the campsite, stop, backup and then the "Hey, you playing tonight?" starts. And I'm a terrible guitar player. 8^)
I'm still learning how to back up my camper and will ask a neighbors to help. Then offer a cold tasty beverage for thanks. And then keep the cooler available!
