I saw a Chevy S15 today at a red light. Regular cab, manual tranny. Still goin'. In the 80's and early 90's I saw S10s everywhere. But this looked to be an 80's model S15.

What was the difference between the two? Engine, options, what?

Yup, the Chevy was an S10. IMHO a better truck than the Colorado/Canyon that replaced it. Plenty of them still on the road.
Engines:-
- 2.5L 4-cyl (Iron Duke) in the early days. (Can you believe this was also the base engine in a Chevy Astro and Camaro!!)
- 2.8L V6
- then a 4.3L V6.
I don't have the accurate years for each

You got it! Chevy S10 and the GMC S15 are identical.

My buddy has a red S15 that he bought new in 1988. It still looks new and runs great. It's a four banger with a stick.
