50A has no voltage and 30A adapter is OK on both legs. That sounds like a bad cord or plugs. How does the cord and plugs look? Have you checked continuity between the two cord plugs on all wires?

I believe the poster said he used the 50 amp cord with the adapter. If that is the case then the only possible explanation is the rig has an actual energy management system that is faulty.

Sam, He also said that the PI was blank on 50A and it would be ahead of the EMS.

If that is true than we are missing some info. It can't be both. If everything works with a 30 amp adapter than that pretty much proves the cord and connections are OK.

I know you have removed PI and sent it back..they tested and said checks OK.

When you removed it...did you connect wires to cord and try to use 50A power without the PI in place?

Old Biscuit: Yes I did remove PI and the system still shut down when connected to 50 amp pedestal. Pedestal was certified a good clean 50 amp output with two legs of 120 and a good white wire connection. Strange. Thanks. Steve

CA Traveler. I will be checking all connections and doing continuity today. I'll report back. Thanks. Steve

Does your EMS give error codes or messages.. Perhaps it can tell you why it is shutting you down.

Odds are there is a wire loose somewhere.

I am fond of saying many RVers have a few screws loose.. here is a short list of some of them

The screws in the power connectors (The Marinco outlet and inlet, I had one outlet come off the cord in my hand, and the inlet on my coach had a loose screw). Breaker boxes (One breaker box screw on my coach took over 2 full turns before it even started to snug up, I think I hit 3 before it was tight) and Automatic Transfer Switches.

Oh, and the park is not immune to a screw loose too.. Same kind.

Your 50A input is going to split to two 115V banks. You should know which appliances operate off of which bank. Switch the hot leads at the converter. You can do that since they are not polarity sensitive. If the problem stays with the bank of appliances that were previously not working, then that eliminates the pedestal, shore power cord, trailer inlet and wire to the converterthe problem is in the converter, most likely a bad breaker

I have 50 AMP service in a 2011 Forest River Sabre fiver. I also have installed a hard wired Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C. For the first 5 months of ownership I was a happy camper with no electrical problems. I started having a problem with the eletrical system shutting when I connect to a 50 AMP source while plugged in to verified known good pedestals after about 90 minutes plugged in and power on. I thought it was the EMS so I sent it back to Progressive. They returned it stating no defect found. I connected it once more with the same results. No electricity at all. I disconnected the EMS to no avail. I also used a neighbor camper 50 amp cable to no avail. Then I used my 50 to 30 amp dogbone with a 30 amp cable and I have power. The EMS remote reads correct connection. My next step was to use my 50 AMP cable connected to the RV male with a 50 to 30 dogbone at the pedestal. All is well. Does anyone have an idea. Can it be a weak 50 AMP breaker causing this. I ran it on a 30 amp cable and used my Air Conditioner for 10 days of camping without a failure and using the EMS. I sure could use some electrician help. Thank you.
Steve
I had about the same problem with mine after a few miles. Tripped 50amp pedestal c/b immediately, but was ok on 30amp with a dogbone. Turned out to be a rubbed raw wire between back of unit and the c/b center. JME.
