I always carry a multimeter to check suspicious campground voltages. Be careful if you don't have at least 112 VAC. Check it at the pedestal. Sounds like you may not be familiar with power, so a plug in meter might be your best bet. Just plug it into the standard 3 prong house style receptacle on the pedestal.

Ok thanks everyone....very helpful...I am going to go look at it. I have one other question. He said its for sure 50amp...but I asked him how many prongs were on the plug. He said 3. I told him I thought all 50 amp was the 4 prong type. He said no...that this is 3 prong but it is for sure 50 amp.

Is that right or not...I thought all 50 amp cords were 4 prong.

Thanks again.

No. That is not right. Do you have a voltmeter. Test it before you plug in. 50 amp MH is 2 110v/50 amp hots, 1 neutral and 1 ground.

Read My RV Electric. This is accurate and very informative.

Thanks for the link but I am confused......After reading....I understand that there are times where a 3 prong is used in 50 amp...however where it talks about rv service....the 3 prong is 30 amp rv and the 4 prong is 50 amp rv....I am talking the plug coming out of the rv. After reading that web page....I think I was right above....or I am missing something.

Thanks X

If you have a 3 prong 50 amp the two flat blades would bee streight up and down not at an angle like the 30 amp. A welder is 3 prong 50 amp. If it is a welding 50 amp plug no campsite has this set up only 4 wire plug.

Other posters are correct about how a 30amp setup will or can be switched between 2 different units but both usually cannot be run at the same time unless they are really low amp units.

In a really hot climate I'd think you would enjoy the benefits of having a 50amp setup coach with 2 units running all the time.

For example--the last time we were in Las Vegas with the daytimes temps over 100 and nighttime not much better both units ran 24/7 and never shut down until we got into a cooler climate. If we'd had 2 units switching...we'd baked alive!
