Hope to not open a big can of worms here....

Is there somewhat of a consensus on what are the best truck tires? I've got a Ram 2500 SRW pickup pulling a 13.5k fiver and am considering getting some new rubber for it. What has everyone had the best luck with? Stock tires for my truck are 265/70 17.

Thanks for any opinions.

Not to beat a dead horse any more, but while the Michelins are very good, they are a bit spendy.
I've had VERY good luck with Firestone Transforce HT and ATs. Currently have 60K miles on a set and still have another 10K left in them. Not too great in the snow, but for inexpensive, high quality tires, they are hard to beat.

Yes, the Michelins will cost you a little bit more. I have the same size tire as you and about a year ago I put the Michelin M/S 2's E rated LT's on for $879 out the door with full service and 70,000 mile tread warranty. I have been very happy with them and like the man said....There is Michelin and then there is everything else.

While the Michelin's are VERY good they are VERY expensive. I have a GREAT tire guy I've used for 40 years and he's never steered me wrong. I went in to put Michelin on my last truck and he talked me out of it. I highly recommend Nitto Dura Grappler, they are available in E range and I was getting close to 60k out of the last two sets (was on my third set when I sold the truck). NEVER had a problem with them. They are a little aggressive but not a 4x4 aggressive, like the Terra Grappler (another good tire but will not see the life that the Dura Grappler will give you).

I'll not use anything else and I don't buy them, my company does.

I'm running the BFG All Terrain KO tires in a LT285/70R17/E. They are just under 33" and fit my truck no problems (4x4 with pretty good factory clearance). Load range E on these are 3195 per tire. They are good for 30,000 plus miles and perform well both on and off road. They will make more noise than the Michelin if that matters to you.

Don't take life too seriously, it's not permanent.

X2 for the Michelins,M/S 2E, I spent $1100 out the door for four and couldn't be happier with a tire! The ride the handling are far superior to anything I have had IE; BFGOODRICH,FIRESTONE,GOODYEAR, etc.
Had a hard time handing the guy that kinda cash for tires, but it took one trip pulling the trailer in the rain and I was sold!! Not looking back now,, Will put the same back on in a heart beat!!

I am running the BFG's as well, just a little smaller with the 265's.
Had a set on my old truck and was very happy with them.

For the truck, run BFG A/Ts. When I wear out the tires on my truck, I will be going to those.
