I think I would like to upgrade in 2 to 3 years and I may choose a slightly used coach over a new one. Do not know now, so I thought I would start familiarizing my self with the current offerings.
It seems like some manufacturers do not even offer a booth dinette as an option. Why? I know the free standing dinette LOOKS better as that is what we chose. BUT IMO the free standing dinette leaves a lot to be desired in actual use. It has actually worked out well for us as we leave a chair at home store 2 folding ones under the bed and have a dog crate under the dinette. (yes I like zoos)
We have other plans for containing our mischievous lab in a future MH since the two dogs get along now, but why is the booth dinette not being offered as an option by some manufacturers?

I'm with you Dan. We much prefer a booth dinette rather than table & chairs.
Booths make a mighty fine shelter for the dog, who thinks of it as her own special shelter with roof. Furthermore, on those cold mornings, slide off your bunny slippers and snuggle your toes into the warm dog fur as you sip the coffee & bourbon.

You know I think the booth dinette offering is for making an extra. bed. I read the post several times and wanted to make sure I was not just meadling. We replaced our dinete with table and chairs because there is just the two of us and we thought we gained some extra space.
Our dog sleeps with us, so putting her in a cage would be like containing Alkida.
Maybe I am just medling?

we like the booth style for the extra storage it provides. the so called 'free standing' units we've recently seen leave a whole lot to be desired in terms of table size. there's just the two of us but we need something a bit bigger than a breadboard to use for dinner.

I think it's because the booth is designed to be converted to a bed, that makes the dinette uncomfortable to just sit at. For some. And with an average of only two people in an RV, they take up more room then necessary.
I know my next RV will probably not have the booth. I'm looking for the table and chairs.

I will readily give up the storage a booth provides for a free standing dinette table. I will never own another motor home with a booth style dinette.
Our free standing table has a leaf that can be used to expand the table. When we have guests we move the table into the middle of the floor and it easily seats 4. Every time someone with a window seat wants to get up, the outside person needs to move. I am slim, but feel cramped in a booth where I can't move the table or chair to give myself more room.

Had a booth in our first MH, but wife said never again. Last two coaches have had free standing tables and we think they are much more comfortable for the two of us. We have two sofas that make into beds so that's not an issue for us.

We had booth dinettes in our TT's and going to the semi-free standing table and chairs is a huge improvement. The booths are not very comfy and,at least our, table has a leaf and two more chairs in the closet.
I guess in theory, the four chairs could also be used outside if one so wished.
I use the table for my computer and as work area and the chairs are much more comfy as I can change my position. Plus it adds a lot of room inside as the chairs can be pushed in when not in use.....or just used for seating.
Lastly, it just looks better.

I'm a booth person - I like storage space
We somehow lucked out and found a tt with a slide dinette booth (queen bed size) and no sofa I mean really, just how many places does one need to park their backside anyway?

We also want the storage space. Would not have a free standing set up.
