Is there a central database or website that lists those places that permit an overnight in the parking lot for an RV? I know Walmart will for the most part but some do not.
Perhaps a database that lists by state those places whose parking lots permit overnighters?

Hi,
There is no "listing" of such locations. The nearest to such a beastie is at http://www.allstays.com/
I much prefer this site which now has over 1700 listings of low cost or free places to stay: www.freecampsites.net

Yes, there is a very useful online searchable database: Overnight RV Parking
The site is owned and maintained by Jim O'Brien and currently has almost 10,000 locations in the US and Canada. I use it exclusively to find overnight spots when traveling.

Hi,
The All Stays site has the same information for free. Jim currently wants $25 per year. Walmart accounts for 4500 of Jim's listings.
The Walmart information is available for free from the Discovery Owners web site.

You are entitled to your preference of course, but I prefer Jim's database. Allstays is a list, not a searchable database, making it much less useful when going down the road.
As for pay, I think $25/year is cheap for the service! I can say that, having never paid. Jim gives me credit for every report I submit, so far I have free access through 2016. Jim gives credit of either one or two weeks, depending on the value of the update, to any member.
You are welcome to tout your preferences, but please do not criticize when I answer the OP's question accurately.

OK for my knowledge how did Tuna criticize you? Because I gave a different answer than you does that mean I am criticizing you also and meaning that I gave the wrong?

Hi April,
The overnight parking website essentially stole the work of hundreds of RVer's from a Yahoo group that ran for many years. None of the folks involved are happy about that. Then the owner of that site turned around and claimed folks were "stealing" from him.
You can patronize the site, or not. I choose to not do so.

McDonalds offer free parking more and more. If you get there early you can often find an open corner spot with a little lawn area.
If you picnic there make sure you serve it out of McDonald sacks however.
