California delta, lots of good fishing and many campgrounds. 50 miles south of Sacramento.

Here's a site I use to locate public campgrounds... Fed/State/City & County. Might be of interest to you.

That is a really, really open ended question. Yes the delta is a great place - if you are looking for flat land. If foothills are more your style, try Comanche, Hogan or Pardee Resivors (Pardee used to have a ban on gas motors on the lake, not sure if they still do). If you are more the "pine tree" type, there are too many places to name both east up State 50 toward South Lake Tahoe or NE up I-80 toward Reno. Lake or stream fishing, you should be spoiled for choices in that part of the world.

Oh, and unless you have already done it to death, Folsom Lake is mere moments from the greater Sac area.

Good luck and enjoy!

Why didn't we do this sooner ?!?!?

Be more specific.

Do you want fully developed full hookup site, public campgrounds, or boondocking?

Near water? mountains? long views?

What do you intend to do? Explore all the local sights or just lounge around camp and relax? Do you want privacy and solitude or group activities and socialization? Hiking? paddling, biking? wildlife watching?

Post back please and we can suggest places to your liking.

Head up I-80 and take 89 north at Truckee. Plumas, Lassen and Modoc National Forests have lakes and streams that can keep you busy for years and years.
