I'm ready to program my Prosine 2.0 for 2 12v 130 Ah batteries.

US Battery Charging Instructions

I guess I have a brain cloud because it isn't making sense to me... can you help me figure out the current ratings I should input into the Prosine 2.0?

The Prosine 2.0 manual will tell you how to do it and what settings to program for your particular battery setup.
Its an easy 2 minute task but you need the book if you've never done it before.

Actually the book has caused me write this post...

The Prosine manual calls for bulk current charging options for transfer to absorbtion mode... max current, max voltage, threshold voltage, and threshold time. The battery manufacturer calls for a specific current rate of charge with a max voltage before going into to absorbtion mode.

How do I determine what threshold voltage provides the specific current?

I would set it based on time as current may vary based on power usage in the RV.
I would use something close to the IOTA IQ controller.
Hold 14.8 for 10 minutes then 14.2 for 2 to 6 hours then 13.4 float.
I would dial max current down to 40 to 60 amps with just two batteries.
If the batteries seem to bubble way too much or push fluid out I might go slightly less voltage and maybe half the time.

Keep in mind the US Battery specs assume you are only charging a battery and not also running an RV.

JMHO, hopefully some others will throw something else out there.

You might PM Mooney on the truck camper forum. He uses a Prosine 2.0 and has alot of experience with it.

I would set it for Generic Flooded, assuming they're flooded batteries.

Hi Off Pavement,
You didn't mention whether your batteries are flooded or AGM... for the info below I am assuming the are flooded.

If you want simple setup, you can select the pre-progammed charging
algorithm #1 which is:
Temp comp: +/- 27mV/ºC
Bulk: 14.4V, 86A (max)
Absorption 14.4V, 86A (max)
Equalize: 17.5V (note: this is higher than US Batt's spec' of 15.3V !!)

If you would prefer to create a custom charge profile, the settings
below should work as a starting point..
Note that to do this you will
need to put the Prosine in "Installer-Only Mode". There are
instructions how to do this in the manual.

Under the Configure Battery menu.
- Set the capacity to: 260Ah
- Set battery temperature to your climate (cold/warm,/hot)
- Set battery temp coefficient to: -16.11mV/ºF

Under the Bulk Charge setting
- Set max voltage to: 14.5
- Set max current to 10%
- Set threshold to 14.4V
- Set the voltage timeout to ~15 mins.

Under the Absorption Charge setting
- Set max voltage to 14.4V
- Set max current to 3%
- Set max timeout to 8 hours
- Set threshold current to 3%
- Set threshold timeout to 15 mins

Under the Overcharge setting
- Set max voltage to 15.3V
- Set max current to 3%
- Set max timeout to 2 hours

Under Float setting
- Max voltage 13.0V
- Set max current to 3%
- Set max timeout to 28 days
- Set threshold voltage to 12.7V
- Set threshold timeout to 15 mins

Set charger type to : 3-Step
Set charger Mode to: Standalone

Again, this is a starting point... IMHO these settings are a bit conservative (specifically the C/10 bulk charge rate) but this is what US Battery specified, so go with it. Also, with my ProSine, the charge settings needed to be tweaked a little bit to get the actual charge voltages at the battery terminals to meet the spec's my manufacturer provided. In most cases it was just a matter of adjusting the voltage set points up 0.1-0.2V

Hope this helps.
PM me if you have questions.
Cheers
-Mark

Thats the nice thing about AGMs. With the Prosine 2.0, you just set it to generic AGM and tell it the battery bank size. It figures out all the rest.

Just want to say thanks for the replys. FYI - These are a pair of US Battery's
"latest design" 12v deep cycle flooded batteries.

I'm about to add a pair of solar panels to the RV for our trips as we boondock almost exclusively, and the Prosine is for the limited AC power use we anticipate. Of course the programmable 3 stage charger was a big factor other than the steal of a deal I found.
