Looking for some thoughts on this situation...
About 3 weeks ago, I placed an order with a dealer for a 2012 Lance 1050s. The dealer informed me that the factory had accepted the order and we were just waiting for a VIN number to do the rest of the paperwork. Well, now it turns out that Lance had changed over its model year to 2013 back about 5 weeks ago. The 2013 version of the model that I ordered is now priced at over $3000 more than what all my paperwork was written up as (Lance has made some changes to its 2013's and the was a price increase). The dealer insists that Lance had accepted this order without mentioning the model year change or price increase. So now my dealer is trying to get Lance to honor the purchase price that they accepted on the original order, but Lance is simply not calling the dealer back. The dealer forwarded me an email from the Lance east coast rep stating that we would have a vin number "early next week". But that was over a week ago. The owner of the dealership has tried every day to contact Lance, with no response. Now, I would just walk away but I have already given the dealer a deposit on the unit. Should I just be patient and wait for Lance to respond? ...maybe thats my only option??

SO THE DEALER SAYS??? anything a sales person says is questionable, I.D ask for my money back if I could not get the RV I wanted . heck call lance yourself and let them tell you .whats up.

Did you sign the paper work on this unit? Sure you did if You gave the dealer the down payment.
Now it was a done deal, So its up to the dealer to eat the increase not you. Sounds to me like he may be just trying to get the extra cash.. I know of a few people that bought new 5th wheel campers. They ordered thinking they were getting a 2012, But turned out to be a 2013 when it got there. These people were not asked for more cash..
Now if you want to back up. Make the dealer give the Deposit back. Being the camper is not started or even have a Vin #. Again something stings in Denmark to me.

I think Its time to call Lance Monday Am and get the rest of the story.. But again sounds like a salesman or dealer just looking to get more cash out of the deal.

It's confusing because the dealsr did send me that email directly from William Hill (lances east coast sales rep) stating we would have a vin number by the middle of last week. Of coarse ultimately I want the unit I ordered, and since lance dealers are few and far between it doesn't make sense for me to pull out of this deal and hope I can find another dealer. My dealer has not asked me to pay the difference. They insist it should be lance that honors the numbers as is because they accepted the order with 2012 pricing on it.

If you signed paper work with a price, then for me that would be the price. When we were in the process of purchasing our Open Range Roamer we had agreed on a price and when we were ready to ink the deal the dealer said oh ya there is a price increase. We walked and went to another dealer and got the original deal without the price increase. A deal is a deal. What are they going to do when the unit arrives, say oh sorry there was another $2000 increase. I would walk if I were you.

Give the dealer until COB Tuesday to provide you with a written response from Lance stating they will provide the camper at the agreed to price by a certain date. If they can't/won't do that, get your deposit back. The dealer cannot hold your deposit on a deal that he cannot live up to.

Good Luck and keep us posted,
Brad

If the retailer cannot provide, get your money back and see if you can find a 2012 unit already built that another dealer is clearing out.

I find it hard to believe that if your dealer is an aurthorized Lance dealer, that he would be unaware of the model year changeover and price increases.

Hopefully you did not sign an open end sales contract.

The legal definition of a Contract is...

"Any legally binding agreement voluntarily entered into by two or more parties that places an obligation on each party to do or not do something for one or more of the other parties and that gives each party the right to demand the performance of whatever is promised to them by the other parties.

To be valid, all parties must be legally competent to enter a contract, neither the objective nor any of the obligations or promised performances may be illegal, mutuality of the agreement and of its obligations must exist, and there must be consideration."
