The contract was for a 2012 that doesn't exist. Therefore, there is no contract to enforce. The longer you take to cut the cord, the harder it is going to be to get your deposit back.

The dealer took the order 3 weeks before 5/12/12. That is 21 April, which was 5 days AFTER the the 16 April cutoff date. He couldn't transmit what he didn't have. Read the OP first post.
The dealer either didn't know what the cutoff date was when he took the order, didn't realize the costs were going up on the 2013 models or was paying games with the OP.
Get your deposit back and walk away. There is no doubt that the dealer is playing games with you now.

This is the statement I was going by.... presumably per Lance.
""UPDATE: Ok, so I called Lance the other day and spoke with Gary, the national sales rep. He was well aware of my situation. He said the dealer had been calling nearly every day but this is the problem. He told me that the deadline for 2012 model orders was April 16th, and they received the order from the dealer on April 22. My printed quote from the dealer was dated April 16th.""
If this information is correct. I still say no matter what. 'Give Lance a Chance'... They have some leeway too.

One problem I do see.... is the TRADE IN, It has not been appraised, it seems. That makes a World of difference. To me; IT appears that the Dealer was just 'taking the OP, OFF the Market'. Not a practice I can admire. The Dealer can 'queer the deal' by simply 'under valueing' the trade.
So in that light. It may be the better part of valor to get the deposit refunded and walk? It's a tangled web we weave.

The OP said the quote was dated 16 April. He never said he signed the sales contract with the dealer on 16 April. Receiving a quote and signing a sales agreement are two different things.

Yup, He doesn't and never did have a Deal. He was on an 'if come'.
The closer you look at it the more 'holes' get exposed.
Sorry OP, get your deposit back and go buy a camper... This thing turns out to be an 'if I could,,, would ya'...Now they can't, and got caught at it.

I had a buddy who "bought" a new Toyota 4-Runner sevral years ago at a Toyota dealer. He have them a check for $500 and signed a sales agreement (but didn't get a copy). He was to return the next day and pick up his vehicle.
The next day he returned to the dealer. The salesman told him there must have been some mistake; they never had a deal and the 4-Runner was being purchased by someone else. The dealer said they had no knowledge of his check or sales agreement.
He walked out of the dealer and put a stop payment on the check, but the check never showed up at the bank. Apperently, someone came in after he made his deal and offered them more money for the 4-Runner and the dealer just tore up the check and contract.

I'd get the deposit back and find a new dealer. Sounds like this is a dealer issue not Lance.

Geez….
All of this critique is hyperbole.
Get your money back, quick trying to deal with this inadequate dealer.
There are a lot of very good dealers out there.

Brad is exactly right. A "quote" is not a sale or an order. It does not sound like anyone did anything wrong, just a bad set of circumstances. Get your money back and go shopping.
