Must have been the good ol transfer case pump rub? Lot more miles than most make it before the hole develops. Didn't mention u joints or front end parts or much else. Maybe they didn't list the small stuff. Heck I don't think I have a million miles driving in my lifetime, great feat.

I am pushing 500k mile lifetime, but 200k of those were in a OTR truck...

I just laugh at the Dodge owners like Richochet who think that GM trucks need the same constant rebuilding of the front suspension and steering like the Dodge trucks do. It's the GM IFS that makes the difference and even the "frequency of repair report" publications/ratings etc provide the data facts to back it up. I have yet to need any repairs or rebuilding of the front ends of the more than 14 GM pickups I have owned for personal or my engineering business (company trucks) usage and some had well over 300,000 miles on them when sold or replaced with new ones.

Finally got the Service Engine Soon light and Low Quality Diesel Exhaust Fluid light to stay out and got the shifter cables replaced and now I have no 4X4 on my 2011 HD2500 6.6. Feels as if either the cable has become unhooked or broken as there is absolutely NO feel to the shifter. Wonder what's next?

"And actually, " said Tammy Pennington, " in the end it was only the transfer case that needed changing. It should have been just a $2,000 repair."

That is excellent. Also something to be said for putting the miles on , while traveling on a highway, as opposed to stop and go in the city.

But obviously the 2006 GM Duramax HD pickup was designed right...to put those many miles on, most of which were towing trailers.

Odd that I read this thread today, just after reading in the library, the Car + Driver test (magazine is a couple of months old) of the three diesel pick ups. The GM did very well in this test.

Good trucks.

Not knocking the good ole LBZ or GM trucks. They all have their little flaws. Some flaws just cost more
