1,000,000 miles divided by an average of 3500 miles per OCI
1,000,000/3500=285.7 or for the sake of practice 286
average oil change is what about $60.00?
286*60= $17,160.00 in oil changes
Someone else can figure the cost of air filters and the recommended service interval costs. I am not that familiar with Diesels.
Ok, so rough estimate. This truck has 20-30k in maintenance alone. Does that sound like a fair estimate for a 1,000,000 mile truck?
thanks!

You think they change at 3500 miles? Probably close to 10K!

Not to mention the fuel costs
Giving them credit for 15 MPG that is 66,666 gallon of fuel At a very considerable estimate of 3 buck per gallon that is $199,999.9999. Two hundred grand and they don't tow for hire??? Nice life I guess
No wonder they don't buy new trucks every 3 years
Good job GM.

From the article:
"When Katrina hit, they needed drivers to get travel trailers for people to live in," said Tammy Pennington. "So I started pulling out of Fitzgerald, Georgia at the Coachman plant. I ran Hugh's 2001 Duramax diesel (Silverado) for 150,000 miles. And then I said here's your truck back, we're going to buy me a new one."
In June of 2006 they purchased a brand new Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD crew-cab with a Duramax diesel engine and Allison transmission while in Georgia.
The first trip in the new Silverado was a vacation in Michigan. Then it was back to hauling Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) trailers.
By November of 2006, they had changed their customer base and began hauling fifth wheels and trailers from factories to dealers for the Indiana Transport Company.

Good for GM.
I've got over 800k miles towing for a living off and on in the late '60s to the early '80s. However that 800k had several different one ton 454/460 DRW trucks mostly GM and two Fords carburated gas hogs. 4 to 6 mpgs on average with 2000-2500 mile oil changes. These truck towed from 25000 to 32000 GCW on every run and had a life expectancy of 120k to 175k miles on average. Having something back then like the DMAX would have been fantastic.
There have been several Dodge/Cummins work trucks reach the million mile mark after 6-8 years of working. IMO we'll see more GM LDTs in the million mile work truck club now that GM raised their GVWRs and GAWR to compete against Ford and Dodge in the LDT market.

Nice story. I'm getting excited about hitting the 100k mark soon on my Dodge, I have to drive it more I think. This should definitely be my last truck.

Good job for them and GM, not a big feat for a diesel however.
I don't think I'm willing to believe any hot shot driver is changing oil every 3-4K. Maybe 15-25K maybe but not 3-4K. A diesel oil change is running $90 for dyno and $145+ for full syn oil. Can't make any money changing it at her reported intervals.
Also I have done why to many upper/lower ball joints and hubs on GM trucks and SUV's to believe they are running any stock front end parts. I can buy the 300K but not much further.
But before I get slammed this is still a tribute to the long life these vehicles can get if taken car of.
