I use Discover for virtually all purchases. Have it setup to automatically deduct the full amount each month from my bank acct. I withdraw cash every once in a while from an ATM. My bank repays up to $15 a month in ATM fees. When at the ATM, I can also check my balance. Works for me.

I use the credit union where I used to live in the Florida panhandle. They are part of the Credit Union Service Center network. I can walk into Trust Federal Credit Union in Chattanooga and make a deposit and it is instantly credited to my account at Eglin Federal Credit Union in Fort Walton Beach. If I need a loan, I call Eglin and everything is handled over the phone and internet. When the wife and I go back to Florida to see the kids, they remember us.
There is no way on God's green earth that I would go with one of the "too big to fail" banks. At the credit union, they know me by name, and the branch manager knows me and my particular financial situation. They stuck by me when I hit financial rough waters a few years back. The big bank that held my mortgage couldn't care less about me.
Credit unions and small, independent community banks are the way to go.

We couldnt survive without the local bank debit card. It works just like a credit card but only works if you have money in the bank. Accepted anywhere VISA is acccepted. We sometimes get stuck with a fee when pulling cash money from another bank money machine.
We pay all of our bills on-line

I also use a credit union and do all my banking online or, occasionally, by phone (generally to warn them I'm going to make a large out of State transaction or when I don't have access to the internet). I actually go to the credit union offices maybe once every five years, if that often (the last time was a year and a half ago to get some financial advice; I found it easier than doing it over the phone). There is no way I will ever use a bank again (and haven't for at least 25 years).
I have worked for banks for over 27 years but have always banked at a local credit union....any checks are direct deposited, bills are taken of thru BillPay and while on the road I can use any ATM that is part of the Co-Op Services AYM (as an example all 7-11's are part of that) and if I need to make deposits all you need to do is find the closest CU Family Service Center for that and all of this with never a fee of any kind being charged...what big banks can say that?
Haven't used a Bank in twenty years. Credit Unions are the only way to go. We use Boulder Valley Credit Union. Full service no/low fees, everything on line, car loans, oveedraft, home equity, first/second home loans, etc. Last bank we used was Fee (Key) Bank.
When we are on the road, DW goes online and pays bills, moves money and balances the checkbook. All I have to do is drive.
Be sure that the credit union you join is a member of the nationwide cooperative where you can get full walkin service at any member credit union.

Our local bank allows us to do internet banking. No problem paying bills by check. Transferring funds among savings and checking. Check with your bank and see what they offer.
Same here, they write and send the checks for us. However, besure you watch how many times you transfer from savings to checking on line. There is a limit (Federal Banking law). It's six per billing cycle.
