Considering consigning my 5th wheel. Is it a safe and good way to sell your RV? Anybody been this route of selling?

Do a search on "PPL", the largest consignment around. Many forum users bought/sold through them.

2008 Jayco Eagle Superlite 28.5RLS
2002 Ford 4x4 SuperCab 7.3 (Jr International) Diesel

Sad to say, time to sell to a good home.

That is great if you live in Texas, I don't. WE are in Northen California. Texas is too far for me to consign. Thanks any way.

Be careful. Most RV insurance specifically exclude coverage when it is on consignment. May not be as big an issue for your 5er as it was for my motor home. But keep it in mind

Make sure the consignment joint is on the straight and narrow. We spend the winter in Yuma, AZ. which is a ripe area for ripoffs due to all the snowbirds in the area. Two winters ago an outfit was selling MHs to folks but they never got the title. Of course the sellers never got there money. He operated in two counties in Arizona and I far as I know they are still looking for him. Do your homework.

Be careful going that route, we got ripped off one time by a large rv dealer that we thought was trust worthy. Not only did they lie about what the unit sold for their night watchman lived in our TT when he was not on the job. We received 1/2 of what he sold the unit for. We had already agreed to an amount separate from the sales price. We found out when we were in a membership campground and saw our camper and went and talked to the people who bought it. When I confronted the owner of the rv dealership he told me to pound sand.....So my advice is get every detail in writing.

Us out West

Let's see...last night we stayed in......

We would not even consider consignment. Why pay someone else what you could do better.

That is....meet your potential buyer face to face as they would rather talk to the owner that really knows the RV rather than to someone that is a 'stranger'.

We put our 2010 Nomad TT on our local Craig's List and it sold in one day.

If you go this way make sure you give as much info as possible...lots of photos (actual camping photos puts them in the mood) and all the options and personal things you've added.

Also don't overprice as the buyers are knowledgable...if you really want to move it.

I just got an offer from an arshol claiming they were out of town but would have their agent pick-up THE ITEM after paying for it thru paypal. If they will not deal in person, it is a scam. This scammer referred to my trailer as an item because they don't care what they steal so long as they can resale it. Seems you get alot of these people on craigslist, a hang out for jerk scammers. Craigslist has a endless amount of scammers, both buyers a sealers.
