IS it under warranty? Should be if new, bring to RV mechanic and have it fixed and stop trying to figure it out before the warranty is out.

It's under warranty but if the problem is user error or something simple, I'd prefer to find out before lugging the darn thing to the shop and embarrassing myself.

too late now, but a 12v fridge would have been a better choice, hindsight is always 20/20.my experience in years past with the absorption fridge has been so so,but in the last 3 RV's i have owned their collective performance has been nothing short of awful, hence my recommendation of a compressor fridge which is what i now have, performance has been much better. We looked into 12V refrigerators and didn't find the technology very practical for our purposes. We would have had to install quite a bit of camper infrastructure to run one and have not really had problems with (functioning) absorption fridges in the past. Of course, when they're bad, they're BAD...

me thinks you got quite a bit of eroneous info regarding the practicality/requirements of a 12v fridge.the problem with todays absorption fridge (they don't function).i MUCH prefer the cheapest/sorriest cooler WMT sells to the nicest absorption fridge $$$$ will buy, thats why my fridge has a compressor.GLTU.

It would kill my battery. That can't be erroneous.

don't kill my 2 group 31 batteries. two batteries(one extra) is not a high price to pay for a RELIABLE FRIDGE and hardly constitutes extensive infrastructure mods.just think for less than $200( cost of 1 group 31 batt) you could have had a fridge that doesn't have to be level and actually cools unlike an absorption fridge
i also use my 2 batts to power my TV/Satellite thru a 300w inverter and NEVER kill my batts. GLTU
