The big problem for me is freezing holding tanks and water lines for extended temps in the teens ( I have an Extreme winter package). I've spent three complete winters in the teens and below and it's not too fun. I would say around mid to upper 20's at night and warmer during the day would be my current cutoff point.

Since I camp all year long I have enjoyed everything from below freezing to 100+ and enjoying every minute of it!

I think the coldest night we've spent in our Rockwood was about 5 degrees. The actual ITEMS in each manufacturers cold weather package (regardless of the name) is strictly up to the manufacturer. Typical things include duel mode heated waste tanks (12 volt and 120 volt), heated plumbing parts and drain valves, heated mattress, storm windows, extra insulation and shut off valves for dog shower and sometimes a stronger furnace (higher BTU) but as said before, they differ from manufacturer to manufacture and model to model. I'd keep in mind that what someone else can do doesn't NECESSARILY mean you can and visa versa because trailers are built differently.

Can you go year round? Of course. How comfortable you'll be is a personal opinion. My rig is not a 4 sesaon unit, but we use it on a limited basis year round. Once freezing temps are reached, we winterize the tanks and use bottled water, lots of propane, idle the truck more often, and either use rest rooms or kitty litter. This is winter camping with an RV, not year round RVing if you get my drift.

P.S. When the family had a pop up we also used it year round in upstate NY. Again, it is winter camping but with a few more amenities than tent camping.

We spent two weeks last fall with night time temps in the 20s. Luckily day time temps were anywhere from 40 to 70. We dont have a 4 season model so when day and night temps drop below freezing we go home.

Hi,

I've boondocked at -27 C (-17 F) for a week, and have spent a night at -37 C (-34 F). Photo Mike and Moving Sue have done -40.

It does take extra care to camp out at these low temperatures and I've made several many upgrades to be able to do so in comfort.

Lowest temp experienced while dry camping has been -8°F with plumbing fully operational. Quite comfy during a short blizzard. Overall, the trip was absolutely the worst decision a native Floridian could have ever made.

Arctic Package, Cold Weather Package, Blah, Blah, Blah...Most of them may give you some tank heaters, maybe a little extra insulation, maybe not..and...the all-important decal on the side and a lot of hype..A true all weather RV will have Double Pane windows for sure, very high insulation R values and a promise that it's been tested and will not freeze at below zero temperatures. The good ones will advertise this. If they won't make that promise in writing..you have just another ho-hum trailer with a decal on the side. It might be good for a little below freezing temps..that's about it..Sorry...

I have overnighted at -10F in my fair weather trailer.
Added tank heaters, heat tape on exposed waste pipes and I added a recirculating water system. Plugged in for power.
1200w electric radiator heater to help the furnace.
