Anyone have a manual on a 1975 model Open Road Dodge camper. I have wiring issues from past owner addon and original suff not working. I stole this thing for $1000 and everthing works. The Kohler 16hp genset and house elect runs the A/C and all outlets but nothing on the 12v side works. I won't go into detail about things i want to know unless i can't find a manual. I have a batt/trans switch but doesn't do anything. I have not found an inverter, assuming it's gone. This thing sat for many years but runs and all appliances work included the genset.
Thanks in advance

Can't help with the manual, but will suggest that you try to Google it, or even just Google RV 12-Volt Systems, which may help you figure out what is what. Most of these RVs have very similar systems, and while the wires may go in different directions, or to a different number of lights, the basics are the same.
Could it be a bad fuse somewhere in the system, that you just haven't located yet?
You may want to just post the questions....we've got nothing else to do
Hopefully, someone will be able to help you with the manual...it's always great to have them!!
Good Luck

Thanks Pap.
Question #1:
i have a 3 pole rocker switch labled on the switch "batt on top and trans on the bottom but neither work. black (top goes to a taped off wire at the genset. Blue (middle goes to the 12v fuse block). Red (bottom spliced to a white wire going through the camper and seems to trace to under the hood). I have hooked the fuse block direct to my truck batt and everything works. Does the taped off wire go to my genset battery or inside the Kohler genset contol panel? There is no 110v to 12v inverter anywhere. None of the 12v stuff works when genset is running or when hooked to the house elctricity. ( I figure this is where the inverter should come into play.)

I would guess that your Inverter is not working, It takes 120 volts and turns it into 12 volts, Could be a bad ground, In these RV's the white wire is ground unless it was installed by someone else other than factory.

I'm wondering if they were using "Trans" for Transformer, to convert the power from the engine Alternator to run the 12V system when the engine was running....and "Batt" would be connected to a battery for use when the engine wasn't being run?
I'm thinking that a 40 year old RV may have had different technology from what we see in newer units. My MH is 12 years old, but has an inverter/converter that will handle all our needs.
Without a converter (Inverters change 12VDC to 110VAC) you won't get any 12VDC when you run the generator or are hooked up to shore power. You can probably buy a fairly inexpensive unit that will take care of both your needs.
Have you hooked up a battery for the system? Don't count on the battery that you got with the unit, unless you've had it load tested.
Hope this helps....Good Luck

I can't help with the questions, sorry. I just wanted to say I'm glad someone is keeping these older units alive. Done right, there is nothing wrong with an older rig. Of course, I'm still trying to learn how to do it "right" myself.
Good Luck with the project. Add post pictures please.
