a while back wofe and kids bought be a license plate mounted back up cam cuz they do a great job guiding me onto hitch (sarcasm). i dont remember brand but it wad an autozone $99 deal. works fine however when i swapped out tv head unit for an in dash dvd i have to select the camera mode for it to show an image. its supposed to show image automatically when tv is in reverse. i originally had it powered.via tapping reverse light hot wire. i just changed it and tapped into reverse feed on 7pin plug. still wont come on auto. my tv is an 2001 f250 cc. very long and i can never see whats behind me. i would love for cam to just come on whenever tranny is placed in reverse. camera manual said it will...its just not doing it. does anyone have any ideas?

If I'm reading this correctly, you are getting a picture when you select camera mode but you want it to automatically switch to the mode when you put the TV in reverse?

Some video screens have multiple inputs and usually if they are designed with the idea of a backup camera being one of them, will have a priority screen. What this means is that screen will take priority when it is powered on with video. This is helpful if for instance, you want to have two camera's hooked to a display, one for backing up and one for watching traffic from the back of your trailer while going forward. You would hook the camera from the TT to the secondary input and the one for backing up on the "primary" and it would automatically turn on when you put it in reverse and chance inputs to that view.

I suggest a good read of the displays manual to see if your display has such options and it may be that just switching the hookup to a different display input may solve your issue.

Good Luck!

X2, check your manual for your receiver. You may have to download it from the manufacturers website as sometimes the full manual is not included with the device.
