Well, sort of. Truck broke down today. Don't know why yet but it quit, just died right after filling with diesel. Didn't even get out of gas station.

Tow truck arrived, hooked us up & barely got 100yds onto the highway when the truck, 5er attatched, broke loose & started rolling backwards down a slight grade.

Full marks to towtruck driver. He was out of the truck running back to the escaped tow & got in & slammed on the park brake before the rig got into a jacknife position.

I can't begin to imagine how scary it must have been for you to watch all your toys rolling out of control! Glad it didn't wreck.

Are you sure it was diesel? Sometimes the station has the wrong product in the tanks you fill from.

I doubt a tankful of gas would have shut down the engine before the OP could get out of the gas station. The fuel filter holds quite a lot. Usually takes a couple miles for that to happen. Hope they get you back on the road quickly for minimal bucks, OP.

Grateful TV doors were left unlocked. Still contemplating whether driver was courageous or dumb. Glad it worked out to your benefit. Prayers it is something minor. If bad fuel, store should have form from their delivery source to help compensate for repairs.

Hauled gasoline, diesel and petroleum products for over 20 years, and what you describe is quite rare. But I will not say that it does not happen, just quite rare.

Actually is it dying right after you fuel up, or is it dying after you shut down and then restart after a very short time period. It may not be related to fueling at all. Good luck and hope is is nothing serious!!

+ 1 I always thought your rig falling of the back of a tow truck was a once in a lifetime event.
Reminds me of of that science from Dumb and Dumber.
"How was work today Larry?"

"Fell off the Jetway again."

I think I'd have some real MIXED feelings about the tow driver. That same courageous person who saved your rig also put it in danger in the first place. glad it came out as well as it did.
