There are other dealers.. In fact there are better dealers.. If you think you are stuck with Mitchlin, then go to their web site and search for truck tire dealers near you.. Any good truck tire shop can take care of you.
Also, Mitchlin and the FMCA have a relatioship. If you qualify for FMCA membership (motor home not trailer) and have not already done so it is worth it to join just for the discount.

I would disagree with that statement about Discount Tires. I had problems at two different Discount Tire stores. My son had problems at a third Discount location.
Discount Tire is not on my list anymore.

"Any good truck tire shop can take care of you."
INCORRECT!!!..Called more than several truck tire shops...No one can find the equivalent load range L in that size...and I don't want just any truck tire that will roll...it has to be butt friendly

JJbirsih, you are apparently mistaken...
TireRack has details of ratings and say
"tires will be branded with their load range (Load Range D or LRD) on their sidewalls and list their appropriate load range letter in their descriptions as ST205/75R15 LRD."
My sidewall says LRL.....L=20 ply....nothing to do with speed rating!

The 305/70 R 22.5 is a L speed rated tire… the L isn’t the load range…
No wonder they had the deer in the headlight look and couldn’t find what you wanted…
EDIT: The load rating on the tire depending on the mfg is 150 to 153... 153= 3650 pounds single mounting…
Your choice is Michelin, Good Year, or Pirelli and maybe others..
The L means the tire has a maximum speed rating of 75 MPH...
“How do these places stay in business???????” The customer is always right!!!

You cannot expect in a huge multi-department store like CW for the hourly sales reps to know everything about the product. They couldn't afford to hire people who are that knowledgeable. YOu see that knowledge in smaller specialty shops as it is much more the norm for people to stay around and build tenure. And with tenure comes knowledge.
And in this case, you were not helping much if you were not asking for the right product. I try to be a very informed consumer and research what I need on my own before I go buy it. If it is something I just can't learn about then I will spend a few dollars more to find a place that has a specialty business in whatever it is I am looking for. It's no different than say buying a complicated camera from Target, or a shop specializing in cameras. You would far more expect the person from the specialty shop to be able to answer your technical questions, and not so much the sales person at Target. It's a trade off. It will likely be cheaper at Target, but you lose the knowledge.
And we as consumers are limiting our choices of finding experts in any business because of the new wave of using the brick and mortar stores as a place to browse products, and feel it out, then go online after we find what we want and search for the best price. The more this continues, the more likely many more brick and mortar stores will have to close their doors due to lack of business.
