Hi,

I just ordered the Morningstar TS-45 TriStar 45 Charge Controller. I'll be installing it in my TT, as part of a solar system. As far as I can find, the specs do not state a diameter for the stud bolts that the wires connect to. I would like to know that diameter so that I could go ahead and order the proper diameter copper ring terminals I will need.

I'm installing this for an upcoming camping trip, so if I wait until the Morningstar Controller arrives to find this out, then I will delayed waiting for the copper ring terminals to arrive to complete the installation.

Anyone with this controller, could you please tell me the diameter of the studs for the ring terminals I need to connect the wires to? I would be much obliged for that information.

The connectors for the main power accept the wire directly. No lugs needed.
Page 17 of the manual says the terminals will accept #14 to #2 AWG.
There are minimum wire sizes for ampacity and voltage drop recommendations.

OK, thank you. Please correct me if I am wrong -- so you mean that there is a slot to slide the wire in, and then a screw compresses the wire end, similar to the connections in a 110/220v service panel? Therefore no ring terminal end is needed for the connecting wires?
