Not sure of how you were attempting the RF board update previously, but you do need a different cable hookup to reach the RF board to update it. The back of the switch plate (have to take it out of the plate mount) has what looks like a telephone jack - this is where the special cable plugs in from the computer with the flash wizard installed. I got the cable from KVH for about $30.
Once I hooked it up, then the RF update will complete successfully. Good news is once you have the cable, you can update any future upgrades for free.
Also, KVH says to perform the Main Board upgrade first, then switch the cables and perform the RF upgrade second.
hope that helps.

dmintzer wrote: I too am mired in this mess. New to rv new to satellite geez!! I have a r4sl on a 2008 discovery that was never used. I am working on 61 sat to get the hd channels. BTW I am in Williamsport, PA I have the keys on order, but I got the main board updated with flash update. Not that user friendly is it!! But I cant seem to get the rf board to update. I get a cant find version, then when i pick the 6 update, it says to cycle the dish off and on to reset but then when i do, nothing further happens. I am on dish network. I had 110 and 119 ok and did get a couple hd channels but 61 holds the hd from what i understand. Thanks for any help, Dean
OK, let's start from the beginning. What DISH receiver are you using?
While 61.5 is the preferred sat for HD in the eastern USA the 129 sat should be accessible from your location have you tried to aquire it?

Sorry for the delay. I am using the 211 reciever. Last weekend, i updated the main and rf boards. I can now find the 110 119 and 61.5. I dont seem to be out of the woods yet because i can only get a few channels. Can I select the 129 when in the check switch menu? Thanks for your help lryrob9301 . Dean

Are you using the "A" service key when running check switch?

When you run "checkswitch" what three sats show on the TEST screen? What switch program is shown SW42 or SW64? Forget your dealer order the service keys direct from KVH.

I tried again yesterday, one of the few clear sky days in Williamsport, PA. After reinstalling the upgrade on the main and rf board, I was able to get 110, 119, and 129!!! I was unable to get much except 101 and the hd test which was great. I called and had them reauthorize my reciever, and IT WORKS GREAT!! The switch was sw64. This was the first time i have seen 129. I also disconnected the antenna and ran ch sw to clear out as someone mentioned. So at least for now, it is great. I'm not real sure why it worked finally, but thank you all for your help. Dean

Just call KVH technical support and tell them you want to purchase the service keys.
