Yea that was one fun day at the beach! 6" of water coming out of the back seat indicates a bad day! Salt water makes it even worse!

If you think you could get your vehicle out waiting for the tide to go out you probably were never stuck in the sand and water at Padre Island National Seashore just south of Corpus Christ, Tx. The wave action rocks the vehicle and sucks the sand/shells from under the vehicle. Eventually the end that is the deeper water settles pretty fast and soon the suction is so great and the vehicle is so deep that it is nearly impossible to retrieve. I've seen scenes such at in the video and also vehicles with only the front half sticking up out of the sand. Back in the 1980s it cost a cool grand to have a wrecker even attempt to retrieve a vehicle past the 4 wheel drive sign on the beach. Down around the 35 mile marker on the island there is a D9 cat buried unless is has uncovered in the past few years. Your insurance company doesn't think it is funny and neither does you daddy.

Same thing happened to me and a friend, his car.Amazing what will seem like a good idea for young"nearly" adults when the "adult beverage"is available. We ended up calling a tow truck that became stuck also.Called in a second tow truck with a long cable, from a spot on dry land,he pulled both vehicles out.
The bill? more than we had.We made a couple of monthly payments payments to the tow truck drivers.
There was no boat involved, just chasing waves!(" you can't cure stupid" is not always true. Some times age improves us.Sometimes!)

On edit...That all happened close to 55 years ago at a beach at Neah Bay WA.

"Don`t be silly! my wife says the Explorer can do it, no problem! she says she drives over parking stops at the mall all the time!"

I wouldn`t even do that with my Excursion with 4.30`s and the wider 285 tires!

That is a hilarious video. I think it is testosterone overload. Anyone with a big truck will always think theirs will be the one to do the job.

I am going to send this vid to my 24 year old son. LOL He is probably someone who would have put his lifted 4X4 in there trying to lend a 'helping hand'. LOL

If I were asked to help, I'd make sure my vehicle was on sturdy ground, and I would use a heavy duty winch. That way, worst happens is the cable or strap snaps, and my vehicle doesn't become an insurance claim.
