If you have ever been on a beach there seldom is any "sturdy" ground close by. Then you better dead man you vehicle with the heavy duty "wrench" It is winch by the way. Do not use electrical poles or even trees, they break. Then if you have ever tried to winch something out of such a quagmire and the cable breaks, and it does, you had better be certain that no one is standing close as they could be killed or badly injured. It happens. Best way is to let professionals do the job or better yet, keep you vehicles on solid surfaces. I watched a D 9 Cat winching another piece of equipment thru mud and water and a 1 inch cable broke with on strand first which started unwinding in a ever growing circle wiping out limbs, a couple of road signs and finally the other strands of the cable broke both ends of the broken cable snapped backwards toward the Cats. Lucky for roll cages and quick thinking by the operators ducking for cover that no one was injured. Never under estimate the suction of something buried in wet sand. No it isn't fun nor funny.
