I have dish mounted on roof and a portable Vu Qube. Both work well. Trees are a problem with roof mount, but Vu Qube you can move around.best of both worlds.

We have both. A kingdome in motion on the roof that so far has not worked at any treed campsites (most are treed) and a automatic wineguard carryout for those treed sites. If I had it to do over again I would not have ordered the Kingdome.

I am surprised how many people have both a automatic portable and a fixed automatic antenna. I agree with, you do not need both.

I'm in the market at this time and considering The View Cube 2000
with the Ladder mount.
Where is the best place to purchase the system with installation .

Thanks

It is important to note the difference in DirecTV's hi-def vs. standard-def offerings. The King dome will not receive DirecTV hi-def because DirecTV transmits all hi-def content on "Ka" band. The King dome will only receive "Ku" band. All the standard-def DirecTV channels are transmitted on "Ku" band. So if you want Hi-Def using your King dome, you need to switch to DISH Network because they transmit ALL of their programming (standard-def AND hi-def) on Ku band, and can be received on the King dome. (Confused? Several years ago DirecTV DID transmit their hi-def channels on Ku band. That is why you will sometimes see products like the Kingdom advertised that it can receive DirecTV hi-def. But no longer true now that DirecTV moved all hi-def channels to the new Ka band satellites at 99 & 103 degrees). Hope this helps clear up the confusion.

Hi tadpole2 - No, the VuCube can only receive Ku band signals. From the King website: "These antennas are not compatible with DIRECTV's Ka band HD signals". Here is url to the king website:
