We recently replaced our old style TV's with new VIZIO Razor LCD flat screens. Now our Memorex DVD home theatre is acting up and we would like to replace it without having to replace the speakers. The speakers are wire terminated to the back of the DVD, not jacks as in the newer models. Does anyone have any suggestions for products to replace our current DVD?

sorry, but ditch the speakers. they are probably crap. again, sorry. get an inexpensive 5.1 receiver and a blu-ray player. then get a set of decent speakers with a small sub, like these:

You might look at an integrated solution that includes AV receiver w/DVD player + speakers like this one: Sony BDV-E580.

You really want BluRay even if you get a stand-alone model. I found one for $58 at Costco a couple of months ago and $78 is normal.

You can cut the wires to your speakers; many home theaters have connections that take bare wires. Or if the unit needs plugs you can just wire those in. Either way you can just pick the home theater system you like the best.

ginagary.....I had an RCA system in mine whem I bought the coach. It had plug in wire connectors that snapped into the back of the Home Theater system. I replaced the unit with a Sony and it had similar jacks, but not the same. I just cut the connectors off of the Sony wiring and I cut the RCA ends off of the OEM speaker wires. I soldered the Sony ends onto the OEM speaker wires. It sounds great. My coach came with some pretty good speakers.

When I replaced my system, I found an open box (5 years ago) Sony 5.1 system at Best Buy. The speakers were beat up so they gave me a good price. I was going to toss the speakers anyway.

I like my Sony systems both in the house and MH. They both came with a microphone that you place in the room where you would most likely be sitting. The microphone then tracks a series of sounds made by the speakers and then programs the speakers to work optimally with where you're sitting.
