Prolly not. I'd be out of work, with a most of the rest of the country. Can't camp much on unemployment.

Yes.. $8 a gallon would be expensive, but I doubt it would stop me. Whether it would stop enough people to close down the Snowbird parks in So Cal would be a greater worry.

I would be camped at my parents' house because I couldn't afford to live anywhere else. We are already a one income family of 3, and that kind of inflation would cripple our little world.

since the bozo thinks the costs of living is not high enough for old people for two years that we need a costs of living increase, it has been a little rough making ends meet, so our camping suffers

I think it will depend on what you want from RVing. If you own your RV, and want to just "get away", then you can do that with $100 worth of gas, and still feel that you're away from home, on vacation. Skip the Latte's, and you'll be able to save that gas money, and take a trip once a month....

Will put a damper on those folks who travel across the country? Probably, but then again, it would just mean saving longer, to make it happen. I can't afford to go on a cruise around the world....at least not NOW, but if I really wanted to, I could start putting money aside, and EVENTUALLY do it.

We have no plans to sell the RV...it's paid for, and aside from Insurance and the registration/taxes, it's not costing us much sitting on the side of the house.

People who are putting their RVs in storage, and paying for it, may start rethinking about it, if they can't really afford to use it the way they had intended.

After six years of 4 day camping trips 6 or so times per year. Last year we did a seasonal site. On our 4 day trips one day was getting to the campground and setting up, camp for 2 days, the 4th day we had to check out late morning.
Now with the seasonal we don't care about gas prices and we are camping from the time we open the door. It is seasonal for this year too, a welcome break. Maybe next we'll hit the road with short trips. There are bargains out there for seasonal sites depending where you are located. It was because of high gas prices we looked at this as an opportunity to get more camping in rather than a set back and less camping.

Would you still Rv if gas went up to 7 or 8 dollars a gallon in the near future?

He.."ck", yes.

But then I've got an itty bitty trailer that my 4-cyl Kia tow vehicle doesn't even know is back there!

Yep. We made a switch to only state parks and avoid "RV resorts " which has lowered our costs dramatically. We also now camp within an hour radius from our sticks and bricks. Makes camping much more affordable and we can go more weekends..... My TV is not a daily driver so I fill up when gas price is low and get 2-3 trips out of the tank....

If gas went to $7 or $8 a gallon think about diesel price per gallon. Then think about the cost to transport commercial goods, groceries etc. I'm not sure camping would be the thing I would be worrying about. I have seen hay go from $60 a ton to over $150 a ton mainly because of fuel costs. You can hardly give a horse away in Wyoming.
