Well everyone, Victoria Day long weekend is nearly upon us!
Sorry to my Yankee friends south of the border - this is a Canuck holiday but you are sure welcome to come join us in celebrating the event!
How many of you are looking forward to the May long weekend, or Victoria Day long weekend as it is called? Do you guys have travel plans?
Speaking for myself, we have had plans in place for some time now. All my family is joining us and we are hooking up the TT and heading to BC's beautiful Okanogan Valley. My DW's best friend has property on an acreage half way between Oliver and Osoyoos with an all fenced yard. We are showing up with the TT, my kids are showing up with my grandkids and tents and we are GOING TO HAVE A BLAST!!!!) Pitch the tents, set up the TT, they have a MH in the carport for some to use.... Lots of grass to set up on and play on!
Wow! I can't wait! Weather is supposed to be nice and sunny. We have BBQ things planned, the little kids can run wild without any fear of getting out of the yard or anyone coming in - that's such a nice thing in today's age!!
Campfires at night, sit around and tell stories about each other, beverages of choice, no driving to get back to where we stay - Oh man this is looking good!!
Gonna hookup the TT Thursday evening, get it stocked with food and "supplies" for the weekend and head out Friday around noon. DW has to work until then - payroll time and she writes the cheques! Going to extend the long weekend as much as possible, likely we will stay 4 days and head out early Tuesday AM to be home around lunch. Sigh! It does have to end but we will make the best of it.
My four adult kids, my 4 young grandkids, DW's best friend who owns the property, some of their family - about 21 of us in total, having fun, celebrating life with anything we want to do, playing with the kids, watching the looks on their faces as we let them roam free without any concerns, so good!
We did the same thing last year to celebrate our friends daughter's 16th birthday. It was such a good time that we decided to do it again this year.
Life is awesome!
Sooooooooo, what about you guys?
Any plans for the weekend?
What are you going to do?
Where are you going to travel to?
What kind of activities do you have planned?
I have told you mine - .....
Do Tell!!!

Well Bob, I live on an acreage just east of Edmonton, situated on a small lake in a subdivision. Long weekends are my favourite times, I stay home and enjoy the peace and quiet, while all my neighbours head out to wherever. Ahhh life is good.

When I did my trip to Alaska, I was careful to stay stateside on July 1st weekend and cross the border before 4th of July. Lots of three day weekenders on both sides of the border.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.
Except for the 4 inches of snow that got dumped on us lastnight I do my usual camper shakedown with my son and the dogs. We head out to one of our many local government run campgrounds, setup, get the fire going and relax for the weekend. Friends usually end up joining us for dinner and campfire bevey's.
I too look forward to this weekend. In the north its the unoffical start to the 'camping' season.

Bob, I'll be driving around my fields seeding. Quit camping on Victoria long week-end long ago. Too many "young" kids out wanting to ruin the camping experience with an all nite party.

on sunday, we'll be leaving burnaby with a plan to cross canada and be getting on the ferry to newfoundland june 30th
will spend the month of july seeing newfoundland
everyone: enjoy your long weekend
(canadians: this weekend and to our american friend; the following week)

I have policy, long weekends are for catching up at home... yard, vehicle maintenance, etc. or if I can work and bank the time so I can take it when the drunken kids are not in the woods trying to see who's stereo is the loudest.
By my math that "extra day" gets used up in traffic, border line up, etc. The last long weekend I camped it took 4 hours to get from Hope to Fort Langley, I spend enough time on the #1 during the week.
