We've had this camper for a couple of years now. The tires look great and show no cracks anywhere. I thought thou it might good to know how old they are. So i've been reading all these tire threads. Most have said to find the age of the tires look on the side wall for a four digit date code in a circled area near the rim. I've found what should be the code but it's only three lettters in instead of four. It shows "011"
what does that mean?

How to read tire date code

Sounds like those tires might be a little old if there is only a three digit code.

If I'm looking at that correctly these must the original tires. January of 1991.

Before 2000 the code was only 3 numbers, 2 for the week and one for the year. Taking into account that your tire manufacturer might not have changed over to the 4 number code right away, it would still make your tires over 11 years old and need to be replaced. If the code is for 1991 same as RV year then they are 21 years old and you have been very fortunate. Built them better back then.

The last three or four digits give the date the tire was made. For all tires built after 1999, this will be a four-digit number with the first two digits giving the week number, and the last two giving the year. For many tires built previous to 2000, the date indicator will consist of three digits, the first two giving the week number and the last giving the last digit of the year. In our example tire, the last four digits of the DOT code are 4501, so our tire was made during the 45th week of 2001.

First week of Jan 1991. It is a 1991 trailer, so sounds like original OEM tires.

To determine the age of your tires, look for the DOT code on their sidewall. A DOT code may be on one or both sidewalls of the tire. The date will be the last 3 or 4 digits of one of these codes.
Note- The DOT code with the date at the end, is ONLY ON ONE SIDEWALL. (You may need to crawl under the vehicle to find it)
From 2000 on: DOT XXXX XXXX XXXX
Last four digits: date code (week / year of manufacture)
Example: DOT B32K NM2K 0607 (6th week of 2007)
Before 2000: DOT XXXX XXXX XXX (older three-digit date code format)
Last three digits: date code (two for the week / one for the year)
Example: DOT P1RW B4LR 109 (10th week of 1999, or 1989)

looks like I need to getting some new tires before taking any long trips. I called around a few places this morning. Most have either Carlise or Greenball tires. This trailer has 5 lug 15" rims so LT tires are out.

Maybe we can help you. Give us the tire size and load range. There are a few 15" LT sizes available for trailer service.
