I made reservations at Goose Point at end of July. Just wondering what activities there are to do in the area? We do not have a boat take on lake. Any attractions in the area? Does North Bend have more to offer? Any info is helpful. Thanks

The loop that's right on the lake at Goose point is really nice.Activities would be boating, fishing, swimming ( there is a beach ) conoeing is about the extent of it.You are not too far from the Blue Ridge Parkway so that an option. The nearest town has a Food Lion,a liquor store and car wash. It's more the type of campground where you just want to kick back and relax.
I have stayed at both, and they are very much alike, and since they are administered by the same ACOE Division, it makes sense that they look very much alike. North Bend has a lot more lake front sites, Goose Point only has lake front sites in one loop.
As stated above, at Goose Point you have the BRP right up the road, that is good for exploration in both directions. Next door is Fairy Stone SP, and there is a place right down the street where they let you dig around for Fairy Stones (good luck, I've never found one). Not sure about boat rentals at Goose Point.
North Bend offers 4 loops all with water front sites available, and there are Marina's around the lake that offer boat & canoe rentals. We used to go to the Marina in Clarksville and rent a pontoon boat and a dozen of us would go out and cruise the lake in that thing.
Fishing should be good at both campgrounds.
