This past mod season (winter) I replaced the water pump with a Shurflo Revolution pump with a rubber mounting base. I added an accumulator tank and replaced the plumbing lines around the pump and accumulator with flexible hoses. Everything tested out well at home and it was definitely more quiet than the old pump.

We carry about 1/3 tank of fresh water when we're on the road. On the first leg of the first trip of the year we were pulled off in a rest area for lunch. Turned on the pump to wash our hands and whatnot, then ate lunch. After lunch we were going to clean up the dishes and there wasn't any water. One of the low point drains had come slightly open and been leaking. The pump was running the whole time without us hearing it and all the water was pumped out onto the ground.

Moral of the story is - rejoice in your loud pump - at least you know when it's running!

Good point!
When the main water line in my 1977 Pace Arrow broke while I was sitting outside, if the pump hadn't been loud I would have never noticed it.
It would have pumped the entire contents of the tank into the storage area under the bed before any dripped to the outside!
There ARE times when a little noise is a good thing!

This is why we rarely hook up to the campground water system but prefer to fill the FW tank. Ours isn't as quiet as yours but is tolerable.

I like to know if something is leaking. The pump will tell you that.

I have never quieted my pump for that exact reason. Not so much for leaks, but if we are using the pump than our water supply is limited. I want to know (hear) If someone is using water.
I consider the pump noise a in use alarm.
